Distinct notes of oak come through in the flavor of this smooth amber ale. The vanilla and caramel character from the oak is balanced by the malty sweetness and roasted notes from to blend of malts for a long dry finish.

Part of last spring's sampler. Amber pour with a weak head. Lots of vanilla, caramel, nuts and sweet bready malt in both aroma and taste. The sweetness got to be a little cloying by the end. I wonder how this would fare with a bit more hops and 1-2% more ABV?

From my brother's-in-law stash. Amber reddish pour, short head which is sustained, sporadic lacing. Sweet caramel malty aroma, a bit of the oak and vanilla, hint of ripe sweet apples and fruits. Smooth flavor, caramel lgiht sweetness, touch of vanilla, hint of oak, some honey, lightly hopped. Easy but forgetful, still tasty though.

Flavorful amber with a residual sweetness. Good amber~copper pour with a large white head that settles quickly and leaves some good lacing behind. Mildly fruity and nutty with notes of bread and toffee.

Nothing really impressing here. A little above average. Tastes like an oakey-smokey boston lager. More malt to give it a bit more strength and flavor...more of an amber to light red appearance. Hopped about the same. Grabbed 2 in the 12-pack spring variety sampler..the 2nd sample growin on me somewhat over the 1st, thought not something I will actively seek in the future.

Sampled on 3/3/2012. This amber/red ale pours a reddish amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet, with a touch hops and perhaps some oak. A medium bodied amber ale. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. A slightly hoppier than average amber ale with a hint of oak. It is perhaps a little sweet, but not bad at all. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

An amber colored beer with a small fluffy white head that rises briefly above. A small ringlet is left begind. Vanilla in the nose. Caramel on the palate. Medium bodied with some smoothness and a fair amount of carbonation.

Medium coopr to amber with a faint head, decent retention and almost no lacing. Mildly oaky/vanilla in the aroma that translates well to the flavor with the addition of a nutty-caramel. Smooth to the palette. Nothing to write home about, but was proud to see something original in the new variety 12-pk.

Amber body, almost no head, lightly carbonated. Aromas of caramel and slightly toasted malts. Flavors of vanilla and caramelup front a bit o hops in the middle and the drying effect of oak and alcohol at the end. Overall its an o.k. beer.

about on par with the bonfire rauch, a light but quality tasty brew. the malt profile of this beer actually reminded me of the former and had me waiting for the smoke that never appeared :) the oak is nice, though...toasted malt, vanilla, and a hint of caramel. light but smooth. little in the way of hops.

umm, not what i was expecting.. . . Pours a deep ruby copper .. low foam .. . alcohol and varnished wood in the nose .. . follows into the mouth, good amount of vanilla also .. . has a touch of heat, i’m guessing this is probably 6 to 7 % .. . An alright beer, but needs to be bit more mellowed out, but i kinda enjoyed too but it needs work .. . . Spike don’t care, didn’t you hear? Spike don’t play with...
