Strong aroma has a fruity overtone and a malty body with floral hints. It pours a beautiful clear orange-amber, almost coppery, with a fairly thick pale yellowish-tan head. Lacing is minimal. Flavor is malty with a good hoppy undertone and a firm floral hint. Texture is fairly fizzy and tingly, and leaves a fizzy and slightly tinny finish.

A deep clouded amber colored ale. Small creamy textured off white head rises above. Not very imprssive in size and definitely not in hang time. The lacing left behind is just a thin and unimpressive. Caramel malt with a touch of floral hops in the nose. Sweet and a hint of citrus-floral hops. In that it falls short of what is expected of the genre. Creamy to the tongue helps make this a drinkable try.

ok, as mr.slowrunner pointed out, this is their heirloom amber. pike can suck it for calling this a pale, is it bad, no, but this is a weak "pale".. . pours a light tan gold. . very light foam .. . light bitterness, needs more everything though.. . thinking sucks.. . bought at Gabriels in SA on friday sept 18th '09

a little weird, but their "pale" ale is actually a "heirloom amber"...right on the menu and one the bottle. why call it a pale? it ain't pale. fully amber in color and flavor profile. nice fresh maltiness to it with a touch of hops to balance. not very complex, but nice enough.

Sampled on 3/2/2009. This American Pale Ale pours a medium amber brown color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet, touch of orange. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and orange. The hops are citrusy and floral. A little on the sweet side, but there are enough hops to balance it out. Nice carbonation. Somewhat more in the English style Pale Ale. Kind of like this one, would make a good session beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and clean with just a touch of a hop bite. The aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle: Pours a lightly hazed amber-gold with a off-white frothy cap that lasts and laces well. Aroma is perfumey-floral-grapefruiit with soft caramel tones Chewy resimous hops in the front and in the middle with a substantial toasty-caramel malt undertone. Finsh is bitter with a citrus flush. Really well articulated west coast pale.

Poured out a nice orange / red hazy brew with lots of very very fine particles, minimal carbonation, tan crown with good retention and excellent sticky and ropy lacing. The aroma is odd but interesting. A decent twist on the American PA. Fresh, faint grapefruit, orange, some spice, floral with soft malts. A sugary smell comes out when warmer. The taste comes across watery and needs more flavour. Tangy, spicy hops, ok malts. A poor representation of the style - not sure if they were going for something something different or if they just blew it. Watery, light bodied, medium spicy bitter finish with a good long, lingering aftertaste. Needs more carbonation. Totally drinkable.

Beer appear to be clear and copper in color, with a very minimal head barley a skiff appears on top and when I give it a swirl the small amount of bubbles spin slowly looking a picture of a hurricane from space, nothing great looking about this brew. Very sweet aroma, hops dominate but not to over powering and the hops aren’t citrusy they have more of a candy sugar quality. I think after ten minutes of smelling I’ve smelled all smell out of this brew can’t pick up a thing anymore. This beer has more bitter then flavor, mild citrucy hops and is nice and malty, I’m really digging the maltiness of this brew. This is getting more and more bitter by the second, the warmer it gets the more bitter it is. The brew is very simple, not complex at all and that is a good thing some times when you just want a beer to slam.

I think i may have enjoyed this more then the IPA- Pours a dark copper colour with a full white head. Aroma is hoppy, floral with soft citrus fruit. hops are well integrated and smooth. finishes a bit dry with a hint of straweberries.
