OK Springs, you finally did something righ... ok, not exactly. But you did good. For OK Springs. Pretty sweet, malty, chocolaty flavour. A little hot, and at 8.5, I can somewhat understand. Odd aroma, but a decent flavoured beer. Some candied sugar, a little licorice, and a bit too much carbonation. Not an abomination, but not highly recommended either.

Last review 2008. From the reviews I am guessing the recipie has changed, the bottle label certainly has. I get cheap porter imitation, with some fake smelling smoke and some wheat. Pretty watery and thin but has a good bitter kick. Mediocre but better than any other OK beer Ive had.

Bottle courtesy of mgermani: Poured a clear black color porter with a huge light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry coffee with some black chocolate is lighter then I was expecting. Taste is also a nice enough mix between some black chocolate notes with some more subtle traces of dry coffee. Body is just way too thin for the style, which was a big letdown but great carbonation and no apparent alcohol were enjoyed. At the end of the day thought, this beer has not enough of a full body for the style and could use some more character.

341 ml bottle, label as pictured above, no date on label. Pours quite dark brown with a small, off white head. When held up to the light, you can see some slight amber reddish hilights. Roasted dark malts, with dark fruity (plum, prune) smells. Taste is dominated by roasted malt flavor, also a bit of dark sugar sweetness. Some alcohol come through as well. Smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel result from the restrained carbonation. Lots of flavor and high alcohol make it a sipping beer. I bet it would age nicely.

Poured out into the glass with a small amount of off-white head that sat on top of the dark brown beer. Simmered quickly to no more than a ring and leaving minimal tiny spotty lacing. Way too much alcohol hits the nose. It's gotta be hid a little better than that. Toasted malts and some chocolate can also be obviously noted. Slightly sweet flavoured, the toasted malts and coffee tastes are blended decently enough with the taste of alcohol. Fairly creamy and really smooth, which suprised me considering the 8.5% and my disappointment up to this point. Full bodied. Slight tingles hit the tongue and a slight bitter finish with a big chunk of alcohol finishes you off. The alcohol content did not ruin the mouthfeel. Despite the abudance of alc, this is still an enjoyable beer.

This brew pours very black, and produced a good quarter inch of thick tan head that didn’t last to long though, just the faintest hints of red show through when held up to the light. Smells so good, overall very sweet, coffee and black liquorish make up the bulk of the aroma, the sent is relatively mild but not too difficult to detect. Tangy flavor, starts off of with the black liquorish hitting your tongue then morphs into a sweet artificial coffee syrup, you can really taste the high alcohol in this, it works for the beer but I’m not sure if I’m a fan of this taste. Mouth feel is to thin for a porter and maybe a touch too much tingly carbonation for my liking. The after taste is a very subtle chalky bitter that lasts longer then the energizer bunny. There is a strawberry like flavor hiding under all the intense flavors of this brew, I’m both enjoy and dislike this beer at the same time can’t explain it. I would recommend any one to try it; it’s a very complex interesting brew.

pours a dark brown/ almost black except for the slight ocloring around the sides of the glass poured a nice creamy tan head that vanished after a minute or 2... 0 lacing...from the opening of the bottle i smelled a lite banana... and a toffeish smell... not quite coffee not quite chocolate... the taste of roasted malts and chocolate is pretty damn appearent. the mouthfeel is amazing on this... i love it.... thick as hell... i just noticed it has 8.5% coulda fooled me!! this is pretty damn good i must say... diffently try this again!!

Porter vs Baltic Porter...I don't think I could tell them apart. This one poured with a large, quick-to-disappear, tan head and a dark dark dark body. Aroma was inviting, with some toasted malt and coffee. Taste was nothing less than delicious, with chocolate, the aforementioned malt, and perhaps some darkish fruit. Heaven. Mouthfeel was rich and thick, and aftertaste was satisfying. Highly recommended.

A fine domestic rendition of a baltic porter...sweet, fruity aroma. Wonderful mahogany color, 2 finger rocky cap. Medium bodied, sweet and silky,.... palate floods with sweet figs, chicory, burnt treacle...slightly bittering finish. Hides it's alcohol well as a good Baltic should. Why the brewer labels this as "old English" porter is beyond me...this is a full ahead Baltic that will not disappoint. I buy this when ever it is available as it is a moderate domestic replacement for my long lost love... Okocim baltic porter.
