Pours out a beautiful black color with head. The aroma is is of heavy malt. The mouthfeel is completely thick. The taste is all malt blended with dates, rasine, molasses and spices. This is a winner.

Long time Wish List Item (since 2008!) gift from my sister from Bruisin' Ales in Asheville. Near black pour, not as heavy as a stout, tall tan head with beautiful lacing. Deep rich molasses aroma with roasted malts, brown sugar, very earthy hops presence, ripe fruits, cocoa. Taste is rich and full: molasses sweet maltiness, dark chocolates, ripe dark fruits, very light earthy smokiness and hops. Fantastic representation of a great style. Thoroughly enjoyable! Need more...

Pours a deep, rich, opaque sable, nearly black, with a thick, dark tan head that dissipates slowly. Rich aroma has good coffee and smoky tones, and an overtone of miso or salted fish. Flavor has the same fishy/salty overtone, but is still pleasingly smoky with hints of roast coffee, unsweet chocolate and hops, and a nutty undertone. Texture is thick and smooth, leaving a whisper of sweetness in the lively aftertaste.

The aroma is sweet and malty with some earthy overtones with maybe some roasted malts and possibly figs coming through. The appearance is a jet black but a very nice mahogany to chestnut in color when held to the light with a decent head on top that is a brown in color with bubbles and leaves uneven lacing on the glass. The mouthfeel is full and robust with some nice malty complexity balanced with some bitter with a palate that is pretty good and coats decently well. The flavor is of chocolate and roasted malts with maybe some earthy fig and raisin with an aftertaste that is chocolately with some hoppy bitter with a finish that is round and full as well as robust. Overall, this is not a bad porter here and is drinkable with a big malty backbone, good stuff here."

Pour was dark brown with a quickly dissipating head and no lacing. Weak aroma of sour milk and chocolate. The flavor was right hook to the jaw...bold presence of chocolate, some bitter coffee notes, some mild lactic presence and a huge boozy alcohol burn. This beer is definitely bold and aggressive, but it almost left me feeling like they were trying a bit hard and the beer was bordering on a mess of flavor. Thanks to eaglefan538 for the bottle!

This Baltic porter pours a dark black color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied Baltic Porter. Malts are chocolate, coffee, molasses and a touch salty. Hops are earthy and floral. Good balance. Very smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle courtesy of Moejuck: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt is dominant and enjoyable. Taste is dominated by dry coffee notes as well as some light bitter roasted malt. I was expecting more chocolate notes then I could detect and the beer was a bit more dry then expected. Body was quite full with some medium carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. Overall, while this was a very good beer I thought it was slightly too dry for the style and I can’t figure out why this rated so high but again I am probably not the biggest fan of the style to begin with.

A gift from parents from Asheville: Poured a very dark opaque black colour with large brown head. Thick, creamy, chocolatey, intense coffe flavors. Like the darkest of the dark roast. Aroma is strong of roatsed malts and alcohol. Toffee, nuts and thick carmel. Excellent beer, hope i can get my hands on this again sometime soon.

This is just a beauty of a beer. Very rich chocolaty malt. Creamy body. Full flavor and aroma. Immensely satisfying for any malt jones. I’d stock up on this beer by the case if I could. It’s like a dessert of brownies and a touch of cream.

Pours pitch black, with a thick two finger tan head that fades extremely slowly to a thick cap. The lacing completely covers the inside of my glass. Very impressive. Smell; lots of dark fruity aromas with plums and cherries. THe roasted aromas are powerful with coffee, dark roasted malts and a bit of sweetness comes out with cocoa and molasses. Taste; the fruity flavors are first to hit just as the were in the aroma, with plums, cherries and I'm also getting some vanilla. Dark roasted coffee mixes very nicely with caramel and cocoa. The finish is very long on this, and provides a bit of a sourness. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a very creamy texture, and the drinkability is really good, but not quite outstanding due to the higher abv, and the flavors are so intense I would have a hard time drinking a second one.
