Like the ageless delight of pedaling a bicycle, Fat Tire Amber Ale’s appeal is in its feat of balance: Toasty malt flavors (sorta like biscuits just pulled from the oven) coasting in equilibrium with crisp hoppiness. Delicious stability - in the world of sometimes-precarious beer flavors – is perhaps what prompted one consumer who wrote us to say, “this beer just makes you smile.” Fat Tire’s depth of flavor, achieved with neither a disproportionate sway toward hops or malts, tandems well with a full spectrum of today’s engaging cuisines. Salmon, dry-aged cheeses, roasted chilies, omelets at midnight, sweet potato French fries and just about anything with grill marks or garlic are just a few of the edibles we like to partner up with our Amber Ale. Fat Tire is so named for the bike trip Jeff took through Belgium that greatly inspired his homebrewing efforts.

355 ml can as New Belgium Fat Tire Belgian Style Ale, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Orange to amber colour, large head, slightly off-white. Moderate malty aroma, a hint of caramel. Malty and relatively bland flavour, some caramel again, a slight fruitiness, minimal hops. Not bad, but far from exciting - and there is nothing "Belgian" about it.

The beer pours an almost clear amber color. Head is off-white, foamy, and lasts a while. The nose detects cereal malt, light caramel, some citrus, and some floral notes. The mouthfeel is average. Flavor is very malty with caramel and biscuit up front. Some weak hops in the mix as well.

The beer poured a translucent light copper colour with a creamy white film which didn't last very long. The aromas were grassy malt, light caramel, herbal hops, and weak yeast. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was light toasted caramel, biscuity malts, weak spiciness, and a bitter hop finish.

On tap at Sweetwaters, Burlington, VT. Pours very little head whatsoever and has a clear light amber appearance. Weak lacing. Lively carbonation. Aromas of dark fruit, bready malt. Flavours are caramel and breay malt, notes of biscuit, a little bit nutty. Average mouthfeel. Not bad.

Nice amber color with ok head. A little cloudy. A very well balanced beer with a deep, toasty taste with a long, pleasant, slightly spicy aftertaste. Just the right (low) sweetness for my taste.

Golden yellow pour with a thick white head. Quite a bit of lace on the glass. Grassy perhaps floral notes in the aroma. Crisp finish with a little hop bitterness.

A bright amber colored beer with a big sudsy textured very light beige colored head. There was decent hang time on the head. Great lacing left behind. Malty presence in the nose. More of the same maltiness in the tasting with grassy notes. Medium bodied. Refreshing and sessionable beer

Pours a nice red amber with not much head. Lots of carbonation coming from the glass. Aroma is very bitter of hops. Taste is slightly dry with hints of hops. Almost tasted like an alt to me. Findshe's off dry. Overall not bad.

Lots of reviews by people much more astute than me, so I will say this, drank first in Smith Rock, cold, when I was 16, skinny, and really really enjoyed this beer. eyechartbrew is the one to find in all these pages if you havent had and arent sure if you want to buy..... Great for its availability!

pours a dark golden with good carbonation and a small bright beige head with decent lace rings and almost no retention. The aroma is fairly fruity with some dark fruit, citrus, bread, crackers and grapes. The taste is dark fruit again with that citrus as well as bready and caramelly. The mouthfeel has good carbonation, medium body and a slightly sweet finish.
