May 2014: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Cloudy brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of red wine vinegar, malt vinegar and malts. Moderately sour and vinegary flavour, some sweetness and malts, no sign of hops. Watery body. Not really my thing.

Clear dark brown, off whote lacing foam head. Sharp little sour aroma and taste, beer with a kick. My mom always used to drink this style, so cheers to you mom. (Velp 201602)

A clear brown tinted amber colored beer with a small three fingered, off white, sudsy textured head. There's not much hang time on the head and there is no lacing. A fruity sweet-tartness in the nose and more so pronounced in the tasting. Subtle effervescence.

Appearance is brown with a red tint and a beige head. Aroma is faint with woody notes and some cherry and caramel. The flavor is somewhat sour and malty with some chocolate covered sour cherries and caramel. This is a little tamer than many oud bruins, session oud bruin? Palate is a bit thin. Overall this is a nice beer.

250 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original Liefmans " champagne " glass an unfiltered dark brown-red coloured Oud Bruin with a one finger tan foamy head that had a short retention and tons of micro bublles. Soft carbonation. No lacing. The aroma is overwhelmed by the sourish-tarty cherries, notes of wood. The flavour is sourish-tarty fruits, cherries, plums, apples on a solid malty backbone. The mouthfeel is sparkling, fizzy, prickly and quite thick. This medium bodied Oud Bruin has a very long sourish fruits finish. A great refreshing and tasting Oud Bruin from West Flanderen. I like it !

Presentation: It was poured from a tap into a pint glass. Appearance: The body has a brownish or an old tarnished copper color that is nearly opaque. Near the sides of the glass there is a lot of visible carbonation streaming up to the top of the glass. This constant flow of tiny little bubbles helps to maintain a thick and foamy head, which is off white in color. Head retention is excellent and lacing is very good as well. Smell: The aroma has a tart and slightly sour fruity malty character with just a hint of citrus. Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor is pleasantly tart with a good solid malty base that is in good balance to its fruity tartness. A mildly tart oak flavor also adds another layer of complexity. The texture is refreshing with a lively carbonation and solid medium body that is quite drinkable. Notes: Overall this was very enjoyable.

Bottled. Brownish ambery colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is sourness, cherries and wet wood. Flavour is very sour fruity and wooden notes with also some wineous hints. Quite brutal breakfast beer. I was surprised by that an Oud Bruin would be a sour ale, but in a very positive way. Nice.

Bottle: Poured a dirty brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with pretty good retention. Aroma of sugar and tart cherries is quiet interesting. Taste is very refreshing with a well balance sourness covered by some sugar and some oak. Definitely not as great as Rodenbach Grand Cru but very interesting nonetheless and I would love to have access to this as a session ale for those hot summer days.

dark brown colour, little chaotic foam, vinous, prune and nougat, a touch of vinegar, medium-bodied, decent sourness, the finish is quite long, fruity with more notes of vinegar and madeirisation - deeply charming
