Ommegang Rosetta pays homage to time-honored Belgian methods of aging and blending fruit beers. Ommegang brewmaster Phil Leinhart partnered with Belgian sister brewery, Liefmans - legendary brewers in the world of sour fruit beers - to create a truly unique blend for Ommegang and U.S. craft beer lovers. Pouring a mahogany-brown with a hint of red, Rosetta offers elegance, depth, complexity, and an intriguing interplay of tartness and sweetness. This is derived from Phil's perfectly balanced blend of Oud Bruin (a tart Flemish brown ale) with Cuvee Brut (a fruity and lively Kriek Beer)

750ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a huge frothy beige head and has a slightly murky amber appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of cherries immediately spring out, various dark berries, earthy and herbal notes, bready malt. Flavours are mostly dark and dried fruits, cherry at the forefront but with a mixture of plums, raspberries and other slightly sour like berries. Quite tarty and some sourness on the palate. Nice drying and slick mouthfeel.

The beer pours a translucent mahogany colour with a creamy tan coloured head that lasts a while. The aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, and wet grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between tart cherry and sweet cherry flavours, with some grains, burnt wood, vinegar, and yeast thrown into the mix. A very fine beer. -

Taps translucent reddish chocolate brown with a fair pale buff head. Tart Cherry dominates the aroma but shares the stage with subtle malt and woody notes. Cherry is still the headliner in the flavor, which presents wine-like character. Cherry wine? Warum nicht? Mouthfeel offers average body but good fizz. Three cheers for cherries!

I picked this up from the Farmers Market beer shop in Roanoke,VA. A nice job by Ommegang in doing the Flander's Red style. It was really tart, some horse blanket present. Brownish hue. Overall very nice beer!

Bottle. Dark ruby brown pour with a short tan head. Wonderful cherry aroma with soft sour notes, light wood and faint balsamic. Taste is sour cherries and sweet black cherries mixed with wood and light acetic notes. Body is light-medium with a strong, prickly carbonation. Slightly dry finish as well. Ends with more bold cherry notes, light wood and light balsamic. Very nice!
