March 2016: 330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer (I could swear I had rated this beer before, but apparently not). Dark reddish brown colour, large beige head. The aroma has first a whiff of smoke, then notes of red wine, red wine vinegar, oak and horse stable. Pleasant flavour, malty, fruity and only moderately sour, again notes of red wine, red wine vinegar and oak, hardly any noticeable hops. Still easy drinking, due to the fruitiness. The alcohol is well hidden. Nice one.

Pours a nice dark copper color with some dark off white head that slowly dissipates the aroma is tart fruit, grains and yeast. The taste is slightly sour, tart with some citrus hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with champagne like carbonation

Pours an average size foamy off white head and has a dark brown appearance with ruby red highlights. Fairly decent lacing. Aromas of faint alcohol, bready malts. Tarty and slightly sour flavours, definitely some herbal and citrus hops. A bit of lemon lime in the finish. Very fizzy and bubbly mouthfeel, similar to a champagne. Full bodied. Good stuff.

The beer pours a slightly translucent darl copper colour with a thin tan head that slowly dissipates to a thing ring and islands. The aroma is tart fruits, yeast, grains, and funk. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lower than average carbonation. The flavour is tart fruit, traces of molasses, grains, and yeast. An excellent beer. -

This poured a brownish red color. The flavor contains some toffee, nutmeg, and cherries. The flavor is quite sour with some cherries and vinegar notes showing up. This is somewhat offset by the presence of caramel and maltiness in there. Aftertaste is mostly sour. Overall a great beer!

Dark, almost black with quickly dissapearing foam head. Aroma is interesting, mix of chocalate and fruits, some nutty tones. Taste is bit sweet, not overwhelming, fruity almomst. Nice aftertaste, the alcohol is there present. (Den Haag 201307)

Embrace the Funk Fest. Tea brown color, white cap and ring, some lacing. Funky tart and light vinegar nose and initial taste, very earthy and tart at first, then more subtle ripe fruits and sweetness, still very earthy, nice linger. Well-crafted, excellent ale.

2011 bottle - deep brown with a quick burst of carbonation but otherwise relatively still in the glass. Vinegar forward aroma with a tinge of sharp tartness. Strong balsamic vinegar flavors with muted notes of dates and raisins and a pleasant tart acidity. Very smooth, and a perfect example of an oud bruin.

375 ml corked and caged bottle in a wrapped paper. Poured in the original Liefmans stemmed glass an unfiltered slight hazy oak burgundy coloured Oude Bruin with a short one finger tan foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Low carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is clearly on the fruity front, sour berries and cherries, dark raisins. The flavour is sweety toasted malts contrasting with tart dark fruits, sour wildberries, sour cherries, raisins, vinous and woody notes and a surprising salty touch. The mouthfeel is slight crispy, fulled and very smooth. This medium to full bodied Oude Briun has a long sourish fruity finish. An amazing smoothness for this sour tasting Oude Bruin from the famous flemish beercity of Oudenaarde.

Looks very good, almost deep amber/brown, and decent head retention for such a fizzy beer. Smells very sour, cherries and wild yeast. Surprised by the mild flavor and dry finish, not at all what I expected by the smell. Very light and lively in the mouth, easy to drink and good flavor.
