One day, a mysterious, tattered vessel arrived. The ship was desolate, save for its cargo. A keg was tapped. Something else had changed, this was no longer a pale ale. Okay, the story is fake, but we took all the stuff people love about IPAs and gave this beer plenty of crystal and dark roasted malts. This dark, coffee-colored beer pours a rocky, light tan head that leaves plenty of lacing on your glass. The hoppy pine and floral aromas ready your palate for an immediate bitterness. Instead, the sweet, caramely crystal malts blitz through, followed immediately by a sharp piney flavor from the Zeus and Cascade hops. The smooth body leaves a long-lasting hoppy finish.

A deep dark brown-black colored beer with a big frothy textured tan-light brown head rising above. There's excellent hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet is left. Cocoa malt in the nose. Light citric and pine hops bitter the chocolate in the tasting. Light bodied.

Another Wisconsin brew from PfoxyJohn himself. Near black pour, tight tannish head, nice lacing. Pine and cocoa with roasted malt aroma and flavor, some molasses, nice earthy bitter linger. Thank you John.

Dark ipas unless the darkness has an actual flavor (ie chocolate) what is the point, Perhaps we should be trying out a squid ink ipa? This one comes out as dark version of their ipa if you took out the grapefruit and put in a layer of soot. Color is good.

It pours a very dark-brown with a thick and foamy light-tan head and thick & copious lacing. An aroma of roasted malts, hops, pine, citrus, light coffee and chocolate, licorace, and spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and quite rich. Flavors of roasted malts, hops, pine, light grapefruit, coffee, unsweetened chocolate, licorace, and spices. Excellent!

Aroma is rather hoppy and has a yeasty undertone. It pours a barely transparent chocolate brown with a respectable, if not persistent, beige head. Flavor is hoppy, slightly bitter, slightly honey-sweet, with a smoky hint. Texture is fairly smooth, a teensy thin and only a little bit fizzy. Overall, nothing special, but not too shabby and worth a try.

This black IPA pours a deep black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white/beige foamy head. The aroma is roasty and hoppy. A medium bodied Black India Pale Ale. The malts are caramel, roasty and sweet. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Nice carbonation. Roasty and hoppy. Nicely balanced. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Had this on tap at the OF during dinne this week. Dark coloured, black and small brown head. Almost what you'd expect from an ADA. Flavor was little weak for my taste. Blah, blah black beer. Not bursting with some extraordinary character that will set apart from all the other BIPAs. I may give it a shot again sometime.
