A dark brown colored beer with a frothy textured, white head rising above. There’s dcent hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet and light cap are left. Aroma of toasty malts, dark fruit, nuts and coffee, The taste is of dark fruit and maple syrup. A bit syrupy in the aftertaste. Medium bodied feel and well carbonated.

Bocks are not a style that I drink a lot...and haven't had a lot of them to compare too. This one seems better than average, but I have had some with more flavor and balance. Somewhat of a complex flavor, with caramel, toffee, bread, light fruit & maple. Gives it a sour and tart aroma. Enjoyable for sure.

Found this in a store near Toledo, OH while visiting family for Christmas. Apparantly some sporadic areas in oHIo get Hinterland, but I've never seen it near me. Pours a dark chestnut color with a settling brown head and streaky lacing. Medium bodied, fairly clean with a chewy sweetness. Notes of chocolate, raisins, dates, molasses, cereal and a faint hint of maple round out this bountiful bock.

How many times have I tried this beer without rating it? Pours a dark reddish brown. Aroma is sweet and nutty, nice fresh roasted malt nose. Taste is pleasant. Balanced, toffee and a little almond notes.

On tap @ The Old Fashion, with PfoxyJohn and phishpond. Deep amber brown pour with a medium cream head, good lacing. Nice lightly roasted malts and nuts in the aroma, some chocolate and nuts, lightly hopped. Taste mimics the aroma - very tasty. Thanks Travis and John for suggesting this one.

as i've said before I get migraines from darker beers and I also get migraines from chocolate. Fortunately I get both the flavor of choolate and NO migraine from this one. Yeah!!! More syruoy than the winterland, less bitter and a nice chocolate buzz. Like winterland it seems to loose its flavor as it warms, at least the chocolate flavor. The two side by side I'd go for the winterland first, but if I wanted one to go with vanilla ice cream or poundcake or shortbread this would be the perfect companion. I could even see mixing it with butter, maple syrup and cream and pouring it over pancakes. Yum!

On draught before me at this moment in Hinterland's comfortable lounge. Deep dark brown with a thin but lasting and lacing head. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, and a smokey hint of maple. Warming and flavorful, sweet nutty notes with chocolate, toffee and maple. Very pleased to be enjoying this at its source, on my first visit to Hinterland. A recommended bock!
