Pours a dark copper color with about a small head, moderate lacing, but little retention. The aroma was toasty, bready malts, but other than that, not a lot going on. The taste a heavy maltiness, some pepper spice, and a hint of hops. The mouthfeel a very thin and watery feel.

Better than average for the style. Clearish medium orange appearance. Semi-creamy texture. The balance is pretty good here, as it's not overwhelmingly sweet with caramel like some marzens. Haven't tried many new ones this year, but one of the better ones that I've had in the last few years.

Pours a clear coppery-reddish with a decent slightly off-white head. Aroma is malty and just a little spicy, mainly cinnamon and cloves. Flavor is rather strong and malty with an undertone of cloves and cinnamon and just a hint of caramel. Smooth, tingly, fizzy texture leaves a spicy and fizzy finish.

A bright amber colored beer with a moderate sized foamy textured off white head rising above. Not much in retention. The ringlet left is thin. Light bready malt in the nose. More bready malt in the tasting. Some grassy hops. Light bodied. Okay. Not great.

A golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some citrus and caramel. The flavor is oddly hoppy with some lemons and pine. Ofest my arse. If I rated on style Id tan this but I don’t so I'll say this is a pretty good session apa.

My buddy brought back this beer from the East coast for us to try. I remember really enjoying it. As a fan of the clawhammer style of banjo playing, I was really excited to try this one.

Pours gold with near perfect clarity and small, scattered head. Aroma is clean, lightly malty. The flavor is balanced and pleasant with a slightly sweet finish. Light bodied, but not watery, with ample carbonation.

Sampled from bottle, thanks to Louis! Pours clear copper with a thin creamy head and nice lace. Toasted malt aroma with a hint of floral hops. Slightly sweet and toasted malt dominant. Light pepper spice and hop noticable. Medium-bodied and moderate carbonation. Excellent VMO!

A nice brew from Blue Lou from one of my favorite breweries out of Asheville. Beautiful city, beautiful people, beautiful beer. Pours a clear, bright amber colour with a finger sized head. It's quick to dissipate but leaves behind a generous amount of lacing. And actually holds pretty nice retention with the foam. Aroma is nice. Soft hops with roasted malts and a little burnt toast. Taste is pleasent, with flavours of fruit and grass and other woodsy things. A pretty tasty beer all around.

Pours a clear amber with a white head and decent lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of slightly toasted malts and bread with good amount of hops in the nose. Taste is rich with a great hops presence for the style based with malts. Another winner from Highland.
