A true German Marzen! A clear metallic gold colour with a thin creamy white head which sticks around long enough to learn about your troubles. The aroma was a nice mix of yeast, grains, and caramel with some hops thrown in for good measure. The flavour is well balanced between the sweetness of the grains, the caramel, and the hops. A nice autumn beer.

pours a clean copper color body with a big foamy white head. A moderately malted mouthfeel , starts off creamy and finishes with a crisp clean hop bite.

Comes out of the tap a dark golden amber with a fairly good fine-bubbled pale amber-tan head. Malty aroma has an overtone of cloves and a firm apple note, almost like a cider. Flavor has a malty core with firm notes of cloves and apple and hints of caramel and horehound. Texture is crisp, smooth and fairly fizzy, very refreshing. All around a good, if not remarkable, beer. Prosit!

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
pours a deep amber color with a foamy tan head and lacing with a few bubbles. The aroma consists of pungent caramel and malt scent with some fruits and a hint of hops. The taste is very crisp and clean with an apple taste, spicy malts and has a sugary aftertaste. The mouthfee is so refreshing and balanced and medium bodied. Overall I think this is one of my favorite Oktoberfest beers.

This is the prototypical Oktoberfest and has all the hallmarks to prove it. A nice reddish-gold pour, clear, with a half inch white foamy head. The nose is full of weak fruits like pears and apricots, bready malt, and a hint of hops. Nice and crisp in the mouth, with a mildly sweet flavour that means you can drink these through a cool autumn evening.

Am amber colored beer. A small creamy textured, white head rises above, but disappears all too quickly. A thin soap ringlet and dusting atop the body are left behind. Sweet toffee malt and earth hops are in the nose and tasting. Pretty stright up marzen. Smooth, nedium body made this a good drink.

a solid if unspectacular example of the style. nice toasted malt backbone and hop balance, just nothing that stands out. nice to try within a tasting of several marzens.

500 ml swingtop bottle, from Rewe Getränkemarkt, Erding. ABV is 5.8%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Moderate aroma of grassy and herbal hops, a hint of caramel. The flavour is fairly malty with hints of caramel, notes of grassy and herbal hops again. Spritzy mouthfeel. A decent Märzen this one.

Yup. This is the one. This is Oktoberfest! If you sample only one Oktoberfest in your life, this is the one to try. It is the perfect representation of the style, IMHO. I would give it all 10's if it were the beer in the only beer in the world, but it isn't so it gets all 9's instead.

500ml bottle -
Aroma - nutty/caramel base malts, light apple aroma coming around about mid-glass too.
Appearance - bright amber body, 1" off-white head, medium retention
Taste - solidly built o-fest and I think that the extra few months have done it well. Sweetness seemed high, but it worked with the fruity/caramel angle of the beer and light on any hop notes. Finish is a bit bready.
Palate - medium bodied, carbonation kept well in check...nothing out of character for this style.
Overall - a really nice example and rivals probably one of my favorite O-fest styles in Kostritzer. I’d get again for sure. Nice price too.
