This one was inspired by Fantome's Black Ghost and Pizza Port's SPF8. It's deep brown in color and the combination of roast and tropical fruit flavors are strange but effective. It's hopped with English Goldings and Saaz and fermented with three Belgian yeast strains. 6.2% Brewed: Feb.17

05.24.05 750ml bottle. The anticipation of this brew was high, and the golden set a high standard. That said, Tom’s saisons need to be taken as the experiment they are, and glorious experiments at that. Tom Baker is a real maverick brewer, fearless, fun, and carefree with a wild talent for concocting a witch’s brew that’ll knock your socks off if you take the time to wrap yourself around it.
The pour is nearly black in with auburn flashes. Small tan head lingers lazily, no lacing. Aroma is full of roasty things, grill-charred fruits, toasted sourdough, white glue, acetic-sour, and dried orange peel. Flavors follow suit with aromas plus an emergence of bitter coffee, lots of sourness, lightly tart and astringent. Addictive yeast character and something else untangible make this beer a gulpable quaff. Lingering citrus bitterness, but without the citrus flavor--it’s just that same sort of feeling. Unusual but wonderful beer, a treat. -

I got the chance to try this back-to-back-to-back with the Hoppy and the Spicy. This was the least interesting of the three in my opinion. Dark brown body with a big head. Sourish aroma. Slightly roasty with cotton candy and pineapple in the supporting cast. Overcarbonated.

Wow Different for this style. Poured a cloudy brown color with a huge head, with great lacing. Aroma was the different for the style some yeast and citrus. Flavoralong with citrusey type fruits, and light spicing. Flavor have some chocolate and yeasty. Finished with a hoppy taste. good solid beer.

A very nice showing from a brewer I need to try more of. Poured a nice cloudy brownish color with some amber hues, very large head, and fantastic lacing. The aroma was a bit funky, some yeast, along with citrusey type fruits, and light spicing. Flavor was similar with some roasted chocolate and a noticeable wheat base. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied. Very nice finish w/ detectable finishing hops.

Huge Thanks to hopdog for getting this one to me. Black pour with a garnet heart when held to the light. Slightly sour , funky nose. Fruity with an underlying sour note. Very enjoyable and good to see someone experimenting with brewing non ipa, apa, stout styles.

perfect brown color with an off white head. It really has kind of a skittles aroma, emphasis on some strawberries. Nice light sourness, definite tartness that increases. very solid beer.

Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thick head with some lacing. It’s tart and vinious with a slight roastiness and a little sweet maltiness. Medium bodied and slightly warming.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a super huge foamy dark head with perfect retention. Aroma of funky yeast is clearly evident and lends a farmhouse aroma, which I greatly enjoyed in saison. Also noticeable is some strange sweet fruit and a lingering bitterness. Taste is absolutely incredible with some notes of roasted malt mixing very well with the citrus sweetness and the farmhouse feels. Wow, this is my new favourite saison for now and thanks to Hopdog for this fine beer.

This beer was a murky tan with a large head. The tase was rather sour with alot of sour grapes and chocolate present. It had a slightly burnt flavor going on. I enjoyed it.

Draft... Poured a mahgany red color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasty chocolate, and tart dried fruits. More cherries and dried fruits in the taste, rather tart, roast and chocolate as well. Very interesting saison, akin to Black Ghost for sure.
