Smoked Baltic Porter is the sultry sister of a storied style. Brewed with traditional German malts and hops, this dark lager gets its special twist from a hefty addition of Bamberg smoked malt. This smoldering, medium-bodied lager is sure to please. Smoked Baltic Porter is smooth, smoky and dark…mysterious enough yet? 6.2% ABV

650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, dark brown in the highlights. Large beige head. Smokey and roasty aroma, notes of smoked meat, mild coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour is medium sweet and moderately roasty, some coffee and dark chocolate again, the smokiness is not excessive. Moderate hops. Good beer, but I’d still prefer a Limfjordsporter to this one.

Pours dark brown and nearly opaque with ruby highlights and a bubbly khaki head and the foam drops quickly leaving a few soapy wisps of lace. The aromoa is mild with bitter chocolate malts and a touch of smoke. Might also be detecting some Molasses? The taste is dark chocolate, figs, slightest hint of smoke. A light hop bittering hidden at the back. The mouthfeel is lightly carbonated and creamy with a touch of alcohol warming in throat.

Purchased @ Belmont Party Supply, Dayton, OH. Near black pour with a slim tan head leaving spots of lacing. Light smoked Bamberg malt aroma, molasses, a hint of leather, toasted malts, very light earthy hops. Taste is a nice blend of very light smoked malts and slightly sweet molasses with a nice finish and smoked bitter linger that is short-lived. This is a must try for SmokeHeads and good Baltic Porters are difficult to come by - seek it out - Worthy!

Rich chocolate dominates the aroma but a slight hop fruitiness lurks in the background, standard porter color, and mouthfeel but it leaves a little lace. Flavor starts with roasted malt, a little smoke, and a bitter coffee finish. Overall a fine brew from Great Divide, but i was looking for more smoke.

7.5%- Haven't had a Great Divide that I have not liked. I also am not that big of a fan of smokey beers, but this is not overwhelmingly strong. The basic chocolate malts here, maybe some coffee and other stuff....some bitter hop to balance out quite well. Not as strong as the Yeti, but similar in style...but with smoke. Worth the try, but not sure if I would get again with so all that's out there.

As you'd expect. Deep black color. A moderate sized, foamy texted, light beige head rises above. There's some hang time on this one. It settles into a medium sized ringlet. Roasty-sweet malt and smokiness in the nose and more so on the tongue. I don't get much else. A thick bodied nearly slick feel. This one was okay, even though smoky beers are not my favorite.

Pours dark brown to black with a faint tan head that is gone almost as soon as you finish the pour. Aroma is heavily smoked with some roasted malt and bitter-sweet chocolate. Medium-bodied and thin in the mouth for the type - the only true letdown was the unsubstantial mouthfeel. Otherwise, a nice character complexity.

Pours a dark brown tar black, medium to small foam, light spotty lacing .. . a dark smoked bier for the summer as the mouth is pretty light .. . light smoke, road tar, and roast .. . peter talks about you all the time, anything nice, no .. . A great blend of malts .. . A very nice beer but maybe if the mouth and smoke were amped up a bit- it would really be show stopper .. .
Well, If I'm a child that means you're a pedophile, and I'll be damned if i'm going stand here and take this from a pervert. -

this one followed the Schlenkera line-up, which perhaps was not fair, but whatrya gonna do? I really dig the common malt character of many of GDs maltier beers. it stands out in this beer, which acheived the roasted malty goodness i've some to expect really well. notes of chocolate and a hint of smoke, especially relatively speaking. nice dry finish. where it fell short was the baltic part. didn't get that at all, especially at 6.2%. oh well, a pretty good beer that i was hoping would be great.

Sampled on 11/20/2010. Bottled on Sept 9, 2010. This smoked beer pours an eclipse black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is smokey, chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied smoked porter. The malts are chocolate, coffee, with a touch of smoke. The hops are earthy. Nice carbonation. Nice mile smoky flavor throughout the beer. There is a little bit of sweetness as well. Another nice sipping beer. I seem to be drinking a lot of them since the weather is getting cooler. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
