650 ml bottle, 2012 vintage, kindly shared by abemorsten. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely and balanced aroma between the smoked and roast malts. Roasty and smokey flavour too, but here the notes of "smoked sausage" come through a bit too strong for my taste.

The beer pours a very dark brown, when held up to a strong light, you can see the logo on the glass. The head is creamy, brown, and long lasting. Aroma is tobacco, hickory, coffee, and vanilla. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Taste is roasted malt, some sweet chocolate hints, and a lot of burnt wood.

Watching the Grey Cup at the Yard House with my home team in it. First of three dark beers. Pours a dark brown colour with a beige creamy-frothy head, good retention and lacing. Vanilla nose over chocolate malts and some smoke. The smoke is more present in the taste over the roasted malts and decent hops. Chocolate notes. A nice smoked dark beer that is well-balanced and not too overpowering on the smoke-side.

Comes out of the bottle a deep opaque coffee-brown with an OK beige head. Rich, smoky aroma has an odd vinyl-like component to it - odd yeast? Hops?. Smoky, coffee-like flavor has a strong hint of molasses. Texture is smooth, fairly tingly and quite lively.

2011 vintage - 22oz bomber poured into snifters. Pour is pitch black with a lacey white head with no lacing but nice retention. Aroma is dominated by burnt wood - super inviting, even in late June. This brew is awesome - burnt marshmallows, chocolate and coffee meld together and form a sweet finish. Tremendous beer, sets the bar very high for all smoked porters/beers.

This must be the Irish Scotch of the beer world. Very nicely smokey, kind of like a campfire in a bottle. Nice body, with a nice amount of sweetness. My bottle was 3 years old and just right.

Nice dark brown color with a very creamy head. Smells of smoke and hints of chocolate waver on the back end of the nose. The flavor is very nice, a good meld of smoke, wood, and malt with a nice bite of hops. Well done.

I had been looking for this one for a while and finally found it when I tried going to a new grocery store. Poured with only a little bit of tan head. Nice size bubbles. Pleasant smoked aroma, reminding me of spicy sausage. Hints of dark chocolate. A nearly black, brown liquid. Full body needs a little effort to swallow, but in a nice way. This is probably about as smokey a beer can get without being too overpowering. Really nice.

A solid and extremely smoky porter that could use some aging. The beer pours a nice black-brown with a healthy head, a pleasant surprise as I wasn’t expecting much. It smells like a smokehouse that makes summer sausage and smoked salmon. This flavor and smell would probably smooth with age, but I know very little about cellaring. The taste is mostly smoke with some sweet chocolate or coffee, struggling to make it through the thick haze of smoke. I imagine cellaring for a long period would allow the other flavors to brighten up and smooth out the smoke. The feel is good, bubbly and mouth-coating.

Got two of these bad boys - one each from slowrunner and stoutlover from recent trades. Today - the 2009 edition. Deep mahogany black pour with a lasting tan head and lots of lacing left with each drink. Smoked malts aroma with a slight bacon and brine along with some bittersweet chocolate. Nice mellow smoke taste with the malts upfront and not too sweet with a slight cocoa flavor. Paired this with some really good local smoked pulled pork and it was most outstanding. Big thanks to Chris and Garrett for sending me a wish list item. This is one really nice porter - It did not disappoint.
