From recent Ohio haul. Near black pour, great head and lacing. This beer is exactly what is says it is: chocolatey, roasted barley, smokey almost BBQ finish. Yes. Good Day Sir, That is all.

Black as sin and headless. Sweet, smokey, and boozy with elements of peat and camphor. Huge smoke and char flavor in a delicious bittersweet balance, boozy and almost port-like without port's sweetness (it doesn't sound possible, yet it is). Thick and smooth, but more prickly than Tres Blueberry.

lower abv, but this sure tasted similar to what a smoked plead the fifth would taste like. nice all-around, though not quite a standout. subtle smoke in the aroma and aftertaste, lots of chocolate...fairly sweet, with a good full, smooth body.

Rich and roasted stout with all the right traits. The smoke was a very subtle backdrop, a mere nuance of the whole beer. I was hoping for a prominent smoke characteristic, but it's still a nice stout.

Yet another wonderful beer that gully smuggled back in his bum to share with me, and I have to point out he hid it in his bum not because he had to but because he wanted to. Brew looks like black motor oil with no cap not even a bubble on the edge of the glass. Aroma is not the smoky beer I was expecting, it has a good solid malts base with light smoke, nice dark chocolate hints of coffee, and both me and Jeff smelt cinnamon independently of each other. . taste is a good solid stout with tons of deep rich flavor, heavy bitter malts that are smooth and thick, coffee and chocolate seem to be in balance, with the smoke being light and stays in the background never making its way to the front of the flavor. Good beer glad I had it, just not as smoky as I was expecting.

12oz bottle. Pours pitch opaque black with a smallish dark brown head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet lactic chocolate, fudge, and some dark fruits with a small touch of smoke (as it warms).
The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate and peaty scotch with a roasted bitter finish. As it warms, a little smoke comes out and the alcohol becomes a bit more noticeable and warming. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and kind of watery.
Overall, a nice stout with good flavors. I didn't pick up on much smoke which was a bit of a bummer. -

Aroma is rich and very smoky with a chocolaty undertone and hints of burnt wood and molasses. It pours a beautiful opaque sable, just a whisker above black, with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Rich flavor is very smoky and has tones of molasses, fine roast coffee and unsweet chocolate as well as a tiny fishy hint. Texture is thick, smooth, oily and just a little tingly. This one is a must!

Pours out a midnight black, with an awesome beautiful full dark brown head, lacing is very low but that head is magnificent .. . aroma of sweet tar, light 2 day old bbq wood, and sweet whiffs of leather .. . needs alot more smoke for me, the lightest smoked beer I've ever and quite alot sweeter than i expected but it is a quality brew.. . Not quite up to the past 3 but happy to have tried it... If I wanted this kind of abuse, I'd have a conversation with my oboe teacher.

Pours black with a thin, dark, fading tan head with no lacing. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt with a bit of coffee and smoke. Bittersweet dark chocolate starts the journey, giving way to deeply roasted malt and coffee. The smoke is there, but subdued, adding to the fine balance to flavors. Full mouthfeel, approaches creamy, but finishes with a pleasant, bitter finish. Another winner from Dark Horse.
