330 ml bottle. Pours black with a fluffy tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet perfumey grainy chocolate malts with some smokey BBQ and a little roast coffee.

The flavor is lots of bitter plastic like roast with a bit of smokey sweet BBQ and a little coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.

Overall, there's a lot going on (including some off notes). It doesn't mesh really well and the bitter roast is a bit overwhelming.

A good solid offering from Mikkeller but didn't enjoy it as much as the other BG beers. Starts with a sour/smoke nose, then the aroma is thick burnt molasses. A deep opaque brown with a thick chocolate colored head that lasts forever. A nice silky mouthfeel and great smokey flavor that sticks with it all the way to the back of your throat. It has a ton of other flavors that all swirl around and come together to make a good beer.

Had as Rauch Geek Breakfast, which is labeled an Oatmeal Stout. Whatever. Strong, smoky aroma has tones of coffee, molasses and hickory. It pours a deep, nearly black, opaque sable with a very thick and fine-bubbled dark tan head. As for the flavor - imagine drinking a high-quality mocha that's been spiked. Now add a generous helping of hickory smoke and pinches of nutty, caramel and licorice flavors. Full-bodied texture has a strong fizz and leaves behind a firm, persistent tingle. Catch this one while you can!

I had this at the local beer garden tonight, where I was 0 for 2 on trying good beer. I'm with mmmmBeer on this one. It wasn't enjoyable at all. It started otu great with a huge tan head and nice, nearly black color. Aroma was impressive with the smoke and malty sweetness, but that's where its luck ended. Medium body and smooth, but the smokey dryness in the finish was bleh. It had plenty of roasted malt, but chocolate? No, just bleh, and the smoke and thought of bacon in the beer was not appetizing. I've had the Beer Geek Breakfast before, and now I know to keep my bacon on the plate, not in my glass!

Opening the bottle there is alot of smoke, similar to laphoiag, aka islay scotch. Peat, earth, compost and rotten citrus. In the glass, a much more happy version of all that joined with burnt grain, roasted barley, smoke, truly I think there is a bacon esque feature, applewood but mostly mollases and dark stout like things. Good but the intense polarization of the flavours are not quite to my liking, and when I break it down into the characteristics by numbers provided (aroma, etc.) I cannot give a 9 or 10 to any, yet it is quite a nice beer, however likely would not seek out again

i wanted to love this one, but it ended up being a little much (to be considered great anyway). No way could I have drank/enjoyed the bottle myself. Big and heavier than the BG Breakfast base. No alcohol apparent but thick roasted chocolate, coffee, lots of smoke and a hint of bacon. Didn't dislike anything, but together it fell short of elite like BGBreakfast or Brunch.

I don’t get it? what am I missing? Why do people like this beer? Am I crazy or do people just pretend to like it because it’s called bacon? Thick blackish brown with a massive brown cap, insane lacing left behind with every sip. Aroma is an oily burnt bacon, with massive camping smoke, and reminds me of boiling pot of roofing tar. Did I just smell old fashion 1980’s arousal bug spray? Ugg, ACK, splaaaa!!! What did I just put in my mouth? So very oily tasting and feeling. I can taste burnt charcoal bacon that has absorbed all the fat in the frying pan but then that fell into my cup of yummy coffee. So I really dig the thick coffee flavor here but his oily tar like camp fire smoke isn’t doing it for me. Strange I’m not sure what to think, the coffee base is good, I think I can even handle the smoke, but this pungent oil/tar mixed with ash is killing this beer for me. I’m glad I split the bottle with my neibour……he now hates me. But i'm very glad i had a chance to try it.

Pours a dark brown/black with a huge dark brown head, great lacing .. . aroma of tar, chocolate, roast, and pure crispy bacon .. . touches of meat, bacon, tar, black molasses and coffee .. . i wanted more smoke but so complex and full, very nice brew- maybe needs six months/2 years to cool down a bit .. . I even like the name Bacon. You can't tell me the success of Kevin Bacon isn't somehow tied to his name. You're not going out to see a Kevin Hot Dog movie. "Who's in this movie?" "Kevin Bacon." "Sounds good."

Bottled (from Kihosk, Copenhagen, if my memory works). Black colour, mediumsized brown head that leaves good lace. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts and a bunch of ashes. Flavour is coffee, roasted malts, mild bacony fat, ashes as well as some mild alcohol. Too roasted and ashy for my taste.

I had this beer on 20 January 2011 on draught at Mikkeller Bar. This beer was incredible! It smelled like bacon, tasted like bacon, and was all around delicious. This beer was really different inasmuch as it was bacon and not just smoke as you would expect with a traditional rauchbier. I would have this again in a second.
