Our most popular beer, Marzen is a smooth, mildly sweet, auburn colored lager. This beer originates from Bavaria where it was brewed in March and stored in caves to be enjoyed during warmer weather. At the end of September, any remaining kegs of Marzen were consumed during the two week celebration which became known as Oktoberfest.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful clear golden amber with a substantial pale wheat head. Robust aroma has apple, banana and malty notes and more than a hint of caramel. Flavor delights with malty, fruity and caramel notes and just a hint of woody hops. Texture, though not substantial, has a decent fizz. Good as an accompaniment to a meal, though fine by itself.

Pours a clear copper with orange tinge with small white head, that dissipates quickly, and leaves behind a rather thin lace. The aromas are primarily malt; light caramel with some breadiness. Faint grassy hop notes. The taste follows the aroma and is sweet malt is predominant, with light caramel and bready notes leading the way before an earthy, grassy hop kicks in near the finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium body. Smooth.

RDU airport berw. Pours a light reddish copper body that is clear, topped with minimal white head that leaves a skim coat and good lacing. Almost no nose. Light body, possibly a touch over carbonated.fizzy on the mouth Minimal but decent flavor. Some lightly toasted malts balanced with citrusy hops, starts sweet finishes a bit sour. Just a bit of charcoal in their somewhere. You could pound these except the carbonation.

Decent all around beer. Second sample from Gordon, and finding them both very drinkable. One of the better semi-economy brewers. Grabbed a few different varities that I haven't tried on clearance for 1/2 off. One of them is the Festive Ale/Oktoberfest, so curious to see how it differs from this. Light amber color, clear appearance. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly caramal malt, but good hop finish. The clearance was because these bottles are almost a year old....but still taste sort of fresh....definitely not spoiled. Liked their maibock, liked this....eager to try the blonde and festive ale next.

Using colour as an indication, this is among the darker oktoberfest beers I can recall. A clear golden amber pour with a white cap that lasts. Aroma is sweet malt, light fruits, and floral hops. Flavour is quite balanced with the fruity sweetness punctuated by the hoppy bitterness

I love airports - one of the best things about airports and layovers is the opportunity to grab a few beers. Well, I stumbled across this place in Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C. while waiting for my connection to Roanoke. I ordered the Marzen because I was told it is the beer to have - I wish I didn't. It was unremarkable in every aspect. In fact, I wish I would've just ordered a glass of scotch instead. This beer was just ordinary and not very good - don't go out of your way for this one.

A copper colored beer. Big frothy textured, off white head rises above. Settles into a light lacing of film and soapy ringlet. Mild molasses and light dusting of citrus hops. The flavors are pretty much the same. Like a Marzen a dance of sweet malt and tart citrus hops. This one accomplishes that in a medium, creamy bodied drink.

A good beer, but not great. It's honest and true to style, however the malt is overpowering the other flavors and aromas. Drinkable, but there are several others that surpass this one.

Amber colored beer that smelled slightly yeasty earthy. Little head that dissipated quickly leaving almost no lacing. Drank from my 'Ted Bud' beer stein. Effervesent, medium bodied mouthfeel, with a sour, hoppy flavor. Did not enjoy.

I enjoy this durin the summer and fall months as a nice way to cool off. A departure from the ale type that I normally drink. It is great right out of the bottle and totally refreshing. Just like an Oktoberfest brew, very crisp and mellow tones. Very intersting. Not that much a fan of GB but did like this.
