Appearance: Honey-amber color, with a three-finger head. Active carbonation and thick, even, slightly cloudy consistency. Thick lacing and long retention. Smell: Earthy aroma with a sweet caramel and alchohol bouquet Taste: Bitter, dry, herbal hop flavor and earthy, alchohol aftertaste. A well-built beer, with a complex character leaning toward earthy hops, as the brewer intended. Representative of the style. Mouthfeel: Full bodied, thick and creamy on the palate. The right amount of carbonation. Drinkability: A pronounced style, suitable for sipping. My wife calls it a 'lounge beer.' Complex, but with a little too much alchohol burn and heavy, earthy dryness. I would have another, although probably not in one sitting. Reviewed on: 10-24-2010 18:31:53
