A striking ruby hue and spicy floral nose punctuate the pleasant sweetness of this brew. Crystal malt coalesces with the earthy flavor of Willamette hops. A hauntingly beautiful combination.

12 oz can. Pours light reddish amber with a small creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is nutty malts and vegetables.
The flavor is sweet cola malts with some bitter roast and a little stewed vegetable. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall, I remember liking the original and the Retro Red a lot better. -

I am liking this brewery. Found this to be more like a red-IPA or Pale ale cross than an amber. Some citrus to the aroma. Flavors of caramel malt, citrus-piney hops...a little fruit. Medium brown/light red cloudy appearance. Only sampled a single, but this is a beer I would grab a 6-pack of in the future. Another fine beer from Colorado!

A deep amber colored beer with a robust foamy textured, orange tinged head rising robustly above. There's good hang time on this one. It settles eventually into a thick ringlet and film. Quite impressive. The nose is light toffee, floral and earthy. Add to that profile some fruit in the tasting. A blance of sweet-tartness. Light medium bodied and effervescent.

Sampled on 9/30/2011. This amber ale pours a medium to dark reddish amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet, some chocolate and orange. A medium bodied amber ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, chocolate and orange. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Malty and sweet, with some decent hop bitterness to balance them out. The bitterness kind of hangs around for a while. More of a red ale than an amber. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Aroma is malty and yeasty with just a hint of caramel. It pours a nice dark brown, almost mahogany, almost like cola, with a fairly thick fluffy buff head. Flavor is mainly malty and has hoppy and caramel hints - not complex, but still pleasing. Texture is smooth and soft with just a little fizz, and finish is surprisingly hoppy. This is a good party beer.

It pours a dark copper and red with a half-inch thick light-tan head and some copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, bitterness, orange and citrus, bread and yeast, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus fruits, bitterness, bread and yeast, light vanilla and some other spices. This is one the better ambers I've tried.

On tap @ Bearden Beer Market: true to its name, amber red pour, with a decent white head and good lacing throughout. Blend of sweet caramel malts and earthy hops and very light floral aroma - with a touch of fruit. Taste is hoppier than a lot of ambers, nice caramel malts add a touch of sweetness then a earthy dry hops finish. A nice addition to the Fort Collins lineup - hopped up a bit.
