01.05.05 12oz bottle. I sucked it up and bought a 6-pack of this today so it better be decent. Dark cola pour with dark head that leaves funny craters. Maple, chocolate, and rum raisin ice cream aromas with hints of roasting like slightly burnt carrot cake. Very sweet flavors are sugary and malty. It’s good -- good like a sweet coffee treat with lots of cocoa and hazelnut or some other nut or something nutty that’s not at all a nut. The palate is light but hearty with fizzy eff that gets excited in my mouth and tingles and sparkles. Then again, I just had some salt and vinegar chips that may have made my palate sensitive to that sort of thing. Either way, this is good stuff and could easily be thought of as a gateway beer for local folks interested in trying something off the beaten path.

This one’s the color of a dark color. Head booms out of control, but eventually fades to a comfortable drinking size. When cold, this one’s a little bland, but it picks up steam as it warms. Dark chocolate and brown sugar make up the malt part of the flavor, but the esters are surprisingly strong, being bananas one sip, artificial grape the next and fig after that. Definitely does not need to be served cold.

I really liked this porter the first time I tried it. And as we all know I am a big porter and stout man. Rich feel to it. Though not as creamy as other porters I have tried. But all in all a good beer.

Dark in color. Very flavorful. Malty and roasty. Sweet flavor. Enjoyable beer.

Cranberry black color with a thick ass layer of dirty white head. Faint sweet chocolate malts in the aroma that increase with time. Bland boring chocolate malts up front, and it seems like those chocolates begin to melt as it warms, also some bitterness up front.

Huge fizzy head with a sweet candy aroma. Sweet caramel taste. Not enough hoppiness to balance it out to make it a really good porter.

Flying Fish usually puts out good products but this porter is just average in my opinion. Good porter taste but comes up a little thin.

Poured dark brown, slightly reddish with a medium sized tan head and no lacing. Aroma of nuts and roasted malt. Chocolate, coffee taste and a rather average mouthfeel. Nothing all that spectactular but an enjoyable porter.

This was a decent porter. It had a nice head and a very slight smoke flavor. Not very complex, but enjoyable.
