The "Fumisterie" is an amber beer with a golden hue. It has a thick head which sticks to the glass. This Hemp Ale has a light malt aroma intertwined with a touch of hazelnut. The fullness of the beer is complemented by the taste of malts and a light sweet savour. The hemp flavour is revealed by a delicate essence of smoked hazelnut while the flavour of the hops arises softly in the aftertaste.

Quite possibly the worst offering ever offered up by Dieu du Ciel. An ale spiced with hemp, but has little in the way of flavour or complexity. It pours a nice amber colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is nuts, caramel, and floral hops. Flavour is weakly sweet. Not a big whallop of flavour.

Pours out in a hazy reddish copper colour with a small bubbly off-white foam. Rather sharp aroma of toasted malts, caramel, grass and anise-seeds. Medium-bodied with notes of caramel and toasted malts with dryish undertones of pepper and grass. Medium-bitter astringent finish of toasted malts grass and red berries.

Bottle courtesy of PhilB - thanks Phil!
Poured out a nice appealing amber coloured brew with lots of beer dust and a small off white head that didn't last very long beyond the rim. Subtle aromas of toasted malts, dank basements, hidden fruits (apricot), freshly fallen leaves. I like this mainly due to the fact that it is not a huge aroma. The taste is no longer mild as I thought it was, I guess it was a bit cold and needed a chance to blossom. Bold hops blended with one of the oddest medicinal taste I've encountered. Leafy hops as well as syrupy citrus. The caramel is quite hidden here, weak nut flavour, a bit of berry but it is faint and found only on the tail end of flavours. Not medium bodied but the oiliness tries to give that impression. Has a great bitter finish which has a dry quality to go along with the ability to make my mouth water. Really easy to drink - mine is gone in 5 minutes. Overall this is a pretty plain beer but look deep inside and find a bunch of stuff that is probably totally different than what I just typed - alas, we review on.... -

Bottle: Poured a medium amber color ale with a nice foamy head with medium retention. Aroma of herb and dry malt characteristics. Taste consists of herb and malt with a dry ending. Body is about average with some good carbonation. I have to admit that this one left me on my appetite and didn’t make a big impression on my taste buds. This brewery has definitely some better beers to offer.

Shimmering deep amber with a fine-pored sticky cap ....good retention and lace. Aroma is demure but interesting...musty honey, leafy botanicals and woodsy earthiness. Taste is much different than it smells...not at all sweet...big glutinous amber malts in the front are instantly balanced by a medicinal bitter-herb infusion, woodyness, some leafy tastes....finish is clean and dry with the hemp providing a spicy bitterness. Ragged mouth feel, medium body spicey-bitter character.Very clean tasty beer...more like a rich ESB than an amber.

I never been to their brewpub,i got no excuse being myself from Montreal...That being said they just started bottling,i think it's a very good news.Spicy beer with hemp! And quite impressive...At first you can smell a leather aroma, and then it's so sweet in your mouth having great balance with some generous caramel notes...A very enjoyable beer, for only 1.99 canadian...

07.11.05 Tap at brewpub. Deep golden color; sticky head at first, fades to little. Tart sweet. Some caramel, then more caramel. Herbal touches, nuts, wheat germ. Pretty one-dimensional and disappointing.

Sampled at the brewpub, in company of S8n on September 17, 2005. This red hemp ale pours a beautiful cream white head with good retention, leaving a nice creamy coat. Its colour is golden-amber and red. The lacing left is great. The aromas are of hop and alcohol, but not too strong. Mild creamy and dry mouthfeel, and quite smooth. Good bitterness in the taste, throughout, with slight grain malt and a dry finish. Nice bitter red ale.

Poured a caramel color with a small off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of spices, caramel malts, and herb. Taste of more caramel malts, nuts, light hop bitterness and finishing herbal.

A refreshing mix of malt and hops, this beer poured a golden amber color and wasn't overly hoppy or bitter. The head was average but the lacing very nice as the beer disappeared. If in the mood for an amber ale, this one is a good one.
