Dark, dark, black. Dark brown slowly settling foam head, lasting, lacing. Coffee aroma and spiced coffee in taste. Just enough bitterness in aftertaste. A very nice beer. (Velp 201612)

Purchased November 2014. Pours an average size frothy brownish head and has a dark brown appearance with sediments quite visible. Lacing is ok. Aromas of chocolate, hints of coffee and vanilla. Very subtle spice notes. Flavours are mostly roasted malts, some notes of coffee, peppery, subtle mocha hints. The chipotle is sort of evident, a bit more in the finish. Also a bit more as it warms up. Drying sensation on the palate. Quite enjoyable.

Thanks to PaleAleRider for sharing this one (as I could not find this one back in late 2014). Dark brown colour with loads of chipotle spices floating all around. Beautiful creamy mocha head with good retention and awesome lacing. Roasted malt aromas with some dark fruity notes and hints of the burnt spices. The roasted malt is quite present in the taste again with some nice bitterness in the end. The chipotle warms the mouth in the aftertaste. Glad I could try this.

Part of the 2014 Mikkeller feature at the LCBO. The beer pours a dark brown with black edges and a dark brown creamy cap. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses and peppers. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, sweet chocolate, coffee, and a definite chipotle pepper note. A very good beer.

Thick black pour with a thin head and very little oily lacing. Pepper and dark chocolate aroma. Peppery/chili flavour seems to get stronger as you go. Dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, and dark fruits. Thick mouthfeel. Interesting beer.

A true effect chipotle presence throughout the beer that increases as you sip. Mahogany~brown body with a filmy head and a few spots of lacing. Hearty roast presence with some berries and a hint of cocoa. Upfront roasted pepper that slowly warms. A mild burn in the aftertaste that builds and sticks in your system while you imbibe. Extremely pleasant and unique.

I'm gonna have to side with Cybercat on this one. This just may be the best porter I've ever had! Looks great, smells great, feels great, tastes great. A pleasant low-intensity heat sticks around in the back of the throat, especially as the beer warms. Mikkeller does Porter well (their stright Porter and the barreled version of this brew are excellent as well) but this one takes the cake. 4.5 seemed high, but nothing deserved an 8...at least 9 across the board. Wonderful aroma of roasted malt, peppers, and some dark cocoa and coffee, subtle smoke...tastes much the same and the feel is near perfect, and rather robust, for a 6.6% beer. Absolutely LOVE this brew, though it comes with a hefty pricetag.

think inky black, with a dense brown crown......looks so thick. Pungent heavy coffee aroma, massive chocolate, good leather, ans yes there is spicy pepper. Do I like this aroma?? Spice really heats up the palate. Heavy thickness is the flavor. Coffee, leather, heat, backer chocolate. SO VERY THICK! The lacing is ridiculous. This is not a hot day after yard work beer.....sigh. My burp had a nice grape fruit hop flavour. I do dig the heat in the brew its perfectly balanced with the flavour. high quality brew perfectly executed but this was not what i wanted to night.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, low tan head. Lovely roasty aroma, notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and hickory smoke / bonfires. The flavour is also roasty and smoky, medium dry. A distinct chili burn in the finish and aftertaste. Quite good.

Pours a luscious sable just a whisker above black with a very thick and fluffy dark tan head that sticks around for a bit. Aroma has a strong overtone of semi-sweet chocolate as well as molasses and roast coffee notes and a hint of toffee. Flavor fills the mouth with chocolate, roast coffee and molasses tones plus nutty and toffee hints. The chilis add an interesting and unique zing to the full-bodied and fizzy flavor, making it unique among all beers that I have tried so far. A must for porter fans, if you don't mind a bit of pepper heat.
