2018 Description Our Pale ale is created using varying styles of brewing from all over the world in order to deliver a bright, superbly well-balanced and flavourful Pale Ale. We use German hops to give a soft bitterness without astringency and English hops to enhance floral and earthy tones. We finish by adding large amounts of American hops at the end of the boil process to produce an aroma of pine and citrus, leaving your palate refreshed and thirsty for more. 2014 Description This beer is enjoyed by those who prefer both character and flavour to their beer. Our Black Oak Pale Ale is a cross between a traditional British Pale Ale and the modern American Pale Ale, and has been awarded several medals. This list includes winning The Canadian Brewing Awards Gold Medal for Pale Ale two years running, and the Best of Show at Fort York Beer Festival. Our Pale Ale has also received excellent reviews in a number of magazines such as Wine Access and Food & Drink. We use premium Canadian two row malt, three select specialty imported malts and lots of hops. Craft brewed with hard work and lots of attention to detail for a consistent, prestige quality beer.

Okay, they want you to believe it’s a pale ale, but it is really a blonde. Not a lot to this beer. A translucent medium gold coloured pour with a snow white bubbly head. Aroma is grassy malt, some weak citrus, and some metallic notes. The flavour is similar with a strong grainy flavour only slightly offset by the weak citrusy hop notes.

Picked up a tallboy at the brewery. Pours an average size foamy bubbly white head, stays around for a while. Has a clear light amber appearance. Decent sticky lacing. Aromas of caramel malt, earthy and herbal hops. Flavours are little bit more hops, subtle earthy hop notes, some toasty and caramel malt as well. Average carbonation. Pretty good retention. Not bad.

Finally get a chance to try this one (as I forgot to pick it up all these years). Bomber from the LCBO. Pours a slight hazy golden-amber colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and creamy-foam lacing. Sweet malty nose with hints of honey at first, but the toasty caramel malts and biscuit come out giving hints of butterscotch. Not much hop in the aromas, but found in the taste covering the milder malts. This gives the wet mouthfeel a little dryness. Refreshing flagship beer, but a little light for today's Pale Ale standards. More malty than hoppy.

The beer was translucent gold with orange hues and a white foamy head. The aroma was grainy malt, some floral hops, and a hint of yeastiness. The mouthfeel was weak to medium bodied, with medium carbonatoin. The flavour was watered down malt, and detracted from the looks and aroma of this beer. The finish was bitter, but not so much hoppy. -

This beer pours a transparent gold colour with a frothy white head. The aroma has a nice floral hoppy tone with some malt and spice in back. The flavour is refreshing and starts out malty and has a bitter hoppy finish.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is honey, fruits, some grass and slight caramel. Flavour is likewise with some citrusfruits coming in quite strong.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Deep golden colour. Moderate hops in the aroma. Relatively hoppy flavour. A fairly decent Canadian pale ale.

This review is for a draught-only version, a re-write may or may not occur when I sample the bottle version, but as to this draught version, it was quite nice. It started out rather EPAish at first, and I thought I wasn't gonna like it, but then it finished rather nice and APA-like, and wound up reminding me of Sierra Nevada. ***New Notes** since then I have sampled the bottled version and it is very smooth and drinkable, even better than on tap, although if you drink too many of them the pinyness of it all starts to grate on you palate.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a medium head with average retention. Citrus hops are clearly present and enjoyable in the aroma. Taste of semi-sweet malt with a citrusy finish. Body is on par for the style. Good for the style without being exceptional in anyway.

07.10.05 12oz bottle, RBSG. Minimally hazed with lacing white head. Aroma is green tea, wet leaves. Not much hoppy aroma but plenty bitterness. Dry finish. Decent, but plain.
