This was one of the last ‘regular’ beers of Amsterdam before they embraced what ‘craft’ really meant. This isn’t to say it’s a bad beer, but it’s certainly not their best beer. A golden hued copper colour with a slight haze, and a weak off-white cap. Lots of caramel in the nose along with ample amounts of bisuit malts and earthy hops. It tastes like it smells, although the caramel flavours are a tad sweet for me.

Clear amber appearance, mild lacing. Floral and herbs aroma. A bit watery mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Flavour: a bit hoppy, sweet, citrus notes, lemon, malts. Not too bad. Ok once in a blue moon.

Another Amsterdam draught, about as bad as the Dutch Amber Lager. In fact, if I didn't know any better (and honestly I don't) I would say it's the same beer different label. Colour - clear rusty red colour, thin tan cap. Aroma - metallic grains, some weak hops. Mouthfeel - medium. Flavour - very acidic and metallic in nature, almost gross. Overall - below average.

Deluxe... hen ? Not too sure coming from Amsterdam. Nice change with the bottles. Green with no labels, but all the writing, painted right on them. Pretty nice new image (and still staying away from the brown bottles). Pours a clear amber colour with an off-white creamy head that disappears at a medium-slow pace and leaves decent lacing. Not much carbonation. The aromas are mostly roasted and caramel malts with a bit of hop. Medium-bodied with a dry finish and not much aftertaste. Nice consistent bitterness throughout with the grainy caramel malt in the back. The burnt malt is also present which is nice for an amber brew. One of their better beers for sure.

While drinking this beer, I was humming 'Proud Mary' just as Ike and Tina had 40+ years ago. It is quite refreshing with a slightly sweet malt flavour and a bitter end.

The beer was poured a translucent red with a huge foamy tan coloured head. The aroma was caramel malt with some grass. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt with a 'burnt' sense to it. An alright beer. -

Can: Pours a clear amber ale with a 2 finger tight cap. Moderate retention and lacing. Aromas of sweet malts, caramel over a herbaceous leafy hop aroma. Taste is much like the aroma. Light. slightly watery mouth feel, caramel malts almost cloying but held in check by hop balance. Fast clean finish, no after taste. I wish they were honest enough to just call this another lawnmower cream ale.
