Originally called San Francisco Sledgehammer, we named this brew for its delicate hop character! If you like West Coast style ales with enough hops to chew on, you'll love this beer. It is light mahogany in color with a slightly roasted big caramel flavor kicked squarely in the pants with plenty of hop flavor and aroma (though not overly bitter). We use nearly 20 pounds of fresh Cascade hops from the Yakima valley to make our Sledgehammer, so beware... this is a hophead's beer

Beautiful reddish-brown with a thin but rich and persistent head. Aroma is hoppy. The strongly but not overwhelmingly hoppy flavor has caramel undertones. Smooth and lively, not too bitter, it is good for sipping before or after a meal, or with lunch or dinner. Five Seasons keeps on brewing winners.

Draft at the Sandy Springs location, poured an amber to copper color, great head and lacing (all of these 5S beers just looked fantastic). The aroma and flavor were very typical of the style, a substantial caramel malt base (too much for my APAs), piney-citrus hops to balance it out. The balance was probably the most notable part of the beer, everything else pretty standard with Joe Blow's decent APA.

Very dark dark, hints of ruby. Fruity aroma, big hops, but not harsh. Hops have a piney character but not quite sappy. Head was wispy remnant by the time I got it. Flavor is nicely malty and nicely hoppy. Reminiscent of Arrogant Bastard, but not as big in any of the aspects.

The aroma explodes with flowers and dry hops with some very slight sweetness with the bitter prevailing. The appearance is a very nice orange to rusty copper with a medium head that discipates to a string of lace that is off-white in color and coats the glass very nicely and evenly. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and has nice hoppy balance as well as complexity with a nice, smooth pallet that is dry-like. The flavor is of dried flowers and is huge in the hop department and is very bitter with a nice, crisp aftertaste that is flowery and bitter with a finish that is pleasing and dry-like and very tasty. Overall, this is a big ass pale ale and is a hoppy goliath probably because it had warmed up some; this is great stuff.

this was more west coast than any other PA i had on the east side. fuller of flavors but still lacking in something... cant put my finger on it. cascade hops, carmel, lots of hops that you seriously can want to chew on.

On tap at 5 seasons, where else? Well its so dark in there I think it was orange in appearance. I tasted mainly oranges and grapefruit. A good bitter aftertaste was present. This was a good session pale ale.
