Not a real special beer but good enough for a inexpensive every day beer. Taste is okay but nothing special just like the aroma. The best part is it's not bitter or hoppy at all. I will try again one day.

I picked this beer up from the Kroger in Salem, VA. Bottom line, not a good beer from Yuengling. It tasted of cheap malt ... Not coffee or chocolate. It almost had a salty undertone. The beer was thing and had zero retention. The color Appeared to be about right, however, a tad on the brown side. Aroma ... Metallics. I didn't li ke this. Sorry.

Sweet cocoa, soda crackers, and a hint of tangy fruit. Medium brown pour with a bubbly head and spotty lacing. Mild roast along with a touch of ash and bread. A mild "safe" profile for sure. Light and lageresque, thin neutral mouth feel. Closer to a dunkel or swarzbier than a traditional porter.

a little more chocolate and coffee present in the aroma and flavor, with a decent but slightly overcarbonated body. near black in color, and pretty aromatic. nicely done, if not a standout.

Comes out of the tap a deep opaque sable, about what I expect from a porter, with a fine-bubbled light tan head that sticks around for a while and leaves some thick lacing. Aroma is not strong but inviting nonetheless, with tones of malt and chocolate and a hint of coffee. Malty flavor has hints of coffee and just a snip of unsweet chocolate. Fizzy, rough, slightly thin texture leaves a strong tingle.

This turns out as you will see in my review to be a top notch Porter. It starts with an impressive black colored body. I have come to like these roasted malt beers the most of any style. I get a big creamy textured, tan head on pour. Good hang time and great lacing. Film all the way up the glass and healthy cap. The nose and flavors are akin, in a roasted malt with light note of coffee. Light to light medium, but suffuciently creamy to finsish off a pleasant experience.

Pours a dark brown, almost black with a nice head leaving some lacing. Nice rich aromas of toasted malts, a bit of cocoa and slight hops. Taste is a bit thin but okay with a choco-coffee flavor and very slight hops finish.

This is the only porter I've ever had. I was impressed with the whole presentation - aroma and appearance. The taste was ok too, but it was just too filling for my taste. I would try it again.

Dark, almost opaque, malty, sweet, but not too sweet. There's the coffee and chocolate hints, darkly roasted. Presents with a nice full head of beige/light brown foam...this is a beer that I can drink any time of the day, any day of the year. It's a "go to" if I can find it. Good with food, especially good with chocolate, dark chocolate or milk. Good on its own, and, owing to its 5% abv, not a bad session beer, too. Good strong flavor, great aroma, and - for me at least - no hangover, on those over-indulgent nights! I highly recommend this one.

In my first review I stated "It is what it is". But after trying it again for the 3rd-4th time it is growing on me. It's actually a decent porter, especially for a mass produced non-microbrew. I don't mind the regular Yuengling (especially compared to other domestics like Bud, Coors, etc.), so I decided to give it's porter a try since I am a big fan of porters. This almost has the appearance of a stout....a nice dark brown near black. I would also say that this taste more like a mild stout rather than a porter. Sweet and caramely with a hint of chocolate from the oats. Compared to the regular Yuengling, I'd say that this is better. For the price it isn't bad at all.
