Using Belgian pilsen malt and Belgian candi sugar we've brewed a classic pale ale. Hints of coriander and orange make this a refreshing, effervescent ale.

Drawn golden while I was expecting a more robust orange-copper, so I asked if indeed this was correct. I was assured it was correct, but brought another sample that appeared identical. Light aroma of fruit and corriander with a flavor void of anything discernable whatsoever. I've had some really good saisons, but this one was well short of the mark. For that $3 sample I feel like I was robbed... except I also got the other sample for free, making it 10 oz for $3... still got robbed.

Pours with a light golden body topped by a thick, white, foamy head with some lacing. It’s a touch sour yet sweet yet bitter with a faint grassiness and a hint of malt as well as yeasty undertones. Light bodied, crisp and smooth with a touch of dryness.

This was the worst saison I've ever tried. The only hope for this beer is that I had a bad sample since it was a freebie at the bar of an art auction I attended. Aroma and flavor seemed very cheap, almost like it contained adjuncts. It was well carbonated and golden in color, like it should be, and that is the best I can say about this one.

A pretty decent saison, a little too bubbly, lots of head, probably too much, hurts my stomach. Clear straw color, somewhat sweet flavor, diminuitive aroma of wheat and citrus. Palate is thin, I don't think I will get this one again.

09.25.04 12oz bottle. Deep yellowish gold - big, fizzy, white head that dissipates quickly. Light banana hints on nose, some b-gum(?) or plastic. Very light flavor and body, nice eff. Hints of green pepper, lemongrass, celery seed, coriander, some brett. Crisp, grassy acidity on finish - acid tart, like lemon juice.

Deep glowing gold with a slight haze. The head is thin, but carbonation is good. Constant streaming bubbles. The head fades quickly, but a bit of swirling revives part of it easily. Strong esters and big, fresh-baked bread malt make up the bulk of the aroma while a bit of pineapple and alcohol come out as the beer warms. The malty flavors go well with the fruitiness. A very slight bitterness is in the finish.

Beer poured pale yellow color with very nice head that lasted until the end (there was even some foam sitting at the bottom of the glass). Aroma was yeasty, hay-like. The flavor reflected a pretty good saison imitation, but it was a little thin and watery. Just not rich enough in the flavor department. This might make a good thirst-quencher (if you EVER try to quench your thirst using beer) after mowing the lawn or something, though.

"After having a Silly Saison the night before, I was not impressed with this interpretation of the style. I am a little bit confused. The Silly was coppery in color. Yards Saison was golden yellow, a la the standard American swill. The flavors were highly grainy and dry. I have the utmost respect for the products that Yards puts out, but this just didn't cut it with me. I think the brewers at Yards need to research the Saison style a little bit harder. I did, however, like the color scheme on the bottle's label that includes the fleur-de-lis. "

Not a bad take on the style by an American brewer. Poured with a very fluffy head and had a dark golden color. Wheat like aroma with some spices. The flavor was of coriander and some citrus with a very mildly sweet touch. Very minor touch of the barnyard and hay-like essences of other saisons, but too light in that category. The flavor was not rich, either, but made for a nice lighter summer beer in mouthfeel and flavor.

Light yellow gold color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, banana, coriander and orange. A medium bodied saison. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of coriander and orange flavors. Spicy and barnyard funky. The soft and lively carbonation balances the spiciness of the beer well. An easy drinking saison. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
