I am very well acquainted with this helles as I sold it in Kalifornia once upon a time, and drank it at the source. The quality at source is ver nice. Much more of a malt profile then normal helles (golden soft, just delicious) lovely in the glass. Due to the importer storing the brews (out west anywho) in Los Angeles, the bottle version can be sticky and flat, or just plain not so great due to heat stroke. In Redwood City Ca. there is a little German joint that serves this on tap and it some of the best brew in the area. In Torrance Ca. Alpine Village carries this helles and its brothers and sisters as well. Lovely setting on the Danube, a bit touristy, Kloster Weltenberg produces some very nice products; this one included.

500 ml bottle. Poured in the old original 0.2 l Weltenburger glass a clear golden orange colored beer with a two fingers white creamy foamy head, with tons of micro bubbles, that had a very long retention. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is sweety grainy malts and grassy hops, notes of fruits, honey and flowers. The flavour is mild sweety malts, bready, grassy hops. The mouthfeel is crispy and smooth. This medium bodied beer has a quite short slight hoppy bitter finish. A very easy drinkable Helles.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.6%. Contract brewed for Weltenburger Kloster by Brauerei Bischofshof in Regensburg. Crystal clear and very pale golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Moderate sweetish aroma of flowers and honey. Smooth and soft flavour of pilsener malts, moderate fruity and honey sweetness, very moderate hops. Drinkable of course, but not very exciting.

Pours a crystal clear sunshiney golden color with a steady stream of bubbles rising to the surface, a nice display, although the head was a little weak after an initial finger or two. Lacing was consistently blotchy, decent. The aroma was skunky, grass, a little dougy. The flavor was sweet, white wine-like, grapes, other fruits, grass, celery, metallic, bready/dough, and finishing with a dry hoppy bitterness. An odd mix of stuff going on here, and quite honestly, it didn't impress me, as haven't many of their other beers. No where near the wow of their Barock Dunkel.

Clear yellow appearance with a big steady white head. Mild and sweet aroma of malt. Soft, malty and sweet flavour, small otes of bread. Mild malty finish. Easy to forget.

Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet. A medium bodied helles. Malts are light and biscuty. Hops are floral and crisp. Overall it is kind of fruity, orange, lemon and apricots. Touches of ginger and raisins. Well balanced. Light and refreshing. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Another amongst the various beers that I received via trade from my buddy Darren almost month ago. Not something I would have picked out, but the deal was that he'd hook me up with a selection of quality beers to surprise me with. And while some have indeed been quite surprisingly good, this one I'm afraid to say is a bit of bust, IMO.
A previous reviewer used the adjective "sticky" with this beer, and it fits to a tee. There something about this beer that bugs me, and whether it' a certian odd "stickiness" or astrigency, or something more ingrained in the character of this lager, it just doesn't appeal to me in the least. Odd aftertaste that remind me accidentally getting cob-webs in your mouth as you go down into Grandpa and Grandma's spooky basement. Cheers to Darren, but no thanks to Barock-Hell.

Bottle. Poured a lovely golden straw colour with a nice, but quickly diminishing white head, which left some lacing. Aroma is sweet hops. Taste is sweet, nicely balanced malt and hops. Refeshing with a smooth, but slightly thin mouthfeel, and a light hoppy finish.
