Clear pale yellow, no foam left. Typical barley aroma, little weak taste. Another ’normal’ German beer, but nothing wrong and a good drink for this day. (Velp 201507)

Always a treat getting this beer. This is what a German lager should be. A beautiful gold color with some darker hues, the rocky cap is snow white. Aroma is malt and grains with some fruit notes (apples/pears) and the flavor is pretty much the same. Best when had in Germany, quite good in New Jersey too!

I remember when we bought this beer at The Beer Store back in the day. It's was a nice go-to tasty beer and quite a treat, coming from Brick Brewing (ok, it was contracted). Poured a golden lager colour with a decent frothy head that created lots of lacing. Bread-like cereal malts aromas with some light yeast. German malt taste with light hops and spices. I miss this one for my bands jams early 2000s. Was Brick's best brew.

500 ml capped bottle. Poured a clear golden-yellow or amber-orange coloured Helles with a two fingers white creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Active carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is sweety malts, grain, straw, moderate grassy hops. The flavour is moderate sweety malts and also a moderate grassy hops bitterness. The mouthfeel is crispy and smooth. This medium bodied Helles has a dry slight bitter finish. A solid and very nice Helles from a mythical bavarian Kloster Brauerei.

Poured a bright, clear golden yellow with a foamy white head vom Faß at the Andechs Bräustüberl. Slightly sour nose of grain and grass. Full round palate but with a crisp bitter edge. Flavors of fresh grain with the same sour bitterness in the finish as in the dopplebock. Excellent complement to my roasted schwein haxe.

Bottled (thanks SHIG). Yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts and hops with slightly grassy notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with mild caramelly notes. OK, but nothing really exciting.

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 5.9%. Pale golden colour, large and lingering white head. Fruity and grassy aroma, some malty sweetness too. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, moderate but decent hops well balanced with the pale malts. I am rarely "swept away" by a helles (nor by any other type of pale lagers, for that matter), not by this one either - but the Andechser Spezial is a well made and very drinkable helles, as far as helles go. Kloster Andechs is probably one of Germany’s best breweries overall.

I finally had to go to the Brick brewery to get one of these franchise-brewed Canadian Andechs’...they were sold out at the beer stores I went to... the brewer informed me it takes 2 months to make another batch. The pour revealed a nice clear golden lager...medium carbonation, tight 1 finger white head. Aromas of sour dough bread, sweet malts and german hops. Started with a mellow malt pronounced creamy body that balanced well with hop tartness.... finish was clean with lingering sour dough tastes. A very nice quaffable Dortmunder...I’d recommend this to any lager drinker...a very good representation of the helles style and a near perfect Canadian reproduction of the Kloister Andecher helles

Bottle. Light golden coloured, with foamy white, long lasting head. Fair bit of lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty/grainy with some hops. Taste is slightly sweet and malty with a light bitter finish and long aftertaste. Full bodied and smooth. Good quality and very nice.
