Perfectly balanced, this authentic version of a German helles-style lager satisfies gloriously. Lean, German malts and fine European hops offer subtle harmony.

Comes out of tap clear pale golden with a nice fine-bubbled eggshell head. Aroma is more apple and pear than malty, almost cider-like. Flavor has malty and fruity notes, not strong but refreshing. Mouthfeel has average fizz and body, and leaves a slightly dusty finish. OK, but will take the edge off a hot afternoon. Drink it while watching a game.

Not a huge fan of this style, but Victory put out a nice beer. Slight skunk, hay malts with a bit of sweetness in the aroma and flavor departments. Nice carbonation bite, long smooth finish, with a touch of hop bitterness.

i think this one was way better than the avg. indicates. grand champion indeed. might wanna change that all malt lager pic though - different beer. mellow but enticing earthy fruity aroma. wonderful to taste and very well balanced. one of the best in catergory.

Enjoy by date of November 2004, Sampled December 2004
A spicy hop aroma emanates from my glass as I pour this beer. The beer is a brilliant straw gold color, and is topped by a frothy, just barely off-white head. The aroma is nicely full with continental spicy hop notes, I get notes of herbs, grass, and a hint of lemon. The beer is quite light on the palate, and has a pleasing malt sweetness. There is a nice bitterness in the finish, which is a nice balance. There is a decent amount of hop flavor here as well. This beer is actually defined by the hoppiness, though certainly not in the way that an IPA is defined by hoppiness. This is just an incredibly tasty example of a Helles. Despite it being past its bottle date this beer tasted incredibly fresh and vibrant to me, I can't even imagine a fresh one being better.

Nice crisp lager. Pours a crystalline light golden color, with an abundant, foamy head that dissipates to a trace within a few minutes. Little lacing to speak of. Well-balanced malt and hop flavors, very refreshing, and a great representative of a German-styled lager.

06.23.05 12oz bottle Super pale yellow with thin white head. Looks like Bud Light with just as much carbonation. Aromas are cookie dough and corn flakes, hints of almond and baby vomit. Very, very, very bland beer reminds only of soggy breakfast cereal. Nothing on finish to clean it up save a few vagrant bubbles. Blech.

I wasn’t expecting this, but this is a pretty cloudy lager. Medium gold with a soapy white head that fades. Chalky malt aroma is followed up my more of the same (if there’s such a thing as a malty pale lager, this is it). The hops are reserved adding just enough spiciness and bitterness to balance the beer out. Nice lager.

While I enjoye this lager's "lagerness" it wasn't particularly good. Poured bubbly and happy, malty, hence the name. Finishes very smooth, though, which is one good aspect apparently. NOt too much to talk about on this one.
