2014 version. Hazy yellow pour with an excellent head and loads of lacing. Not much aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Breaded malt with a nice pine hop flavour. Not bad for Trafalgar.

Thanks to Chopz for this one! Pours a huge frothy head and has a hazy orange/amber appearance. Some thick dirty lacing. Aromas of citrus and floral hops, somewhat sour, sweet malts and even some hints of grapefruit. Flavour is fairly bitter and tarty with that sour hop taste and has some yeasty notes as well. Mouthfeel is fairly astringent with a puckering and chalky sensation. Faint carbonation. An ok beer but a 600ml bottle is maybe a bit too much for an unfiltered hoppy beer for me. Half portion would be sufficient.

I heard a lot of good things about this beer, and since I hate this brewery, I was hesitant to try it. I was right to be hesitant. A cloudy gold beer with almost no head and a 'canned' hoppy aroma. The flavoiur was more malty than hoppy. Yet another undrinkable product from Trafalgar.

2009 edition in a bomber bottle. Hops were picked the same day as the beer was brewed, so must be fresh. Pours a cloudy-hazy golden-yellow colour with a big white creamy head that stays a while and leaves mini-island lacing. Lots of sediments are floating all-around. At first pour, smell like those little tart candies in a roll you get at Halloween. After that, the hop comes out, but very floral and sweet with citrus notes. Smooth and mildly watery mouthfeel with no stick. The hop is not really dominant in the taste though. Not really bitter, not really dry. Way too toned down. Good taste, but just not as punchy as one would expect. More refreshing than a hoppy brew.

    2009 Vintage
    650ml bottle

The beer poured a cloudy dark gold colour with a generous dark brown rockey head. The aroma is weak grainy malt, and floral hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour is hop heavy with a definite grapefruit/citrus profile. The beer however is overpriced!

Bottle: Poured a murky dirty beige color ale with a medium foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light earthy hops is mildly satisfying. Taste is dominated by light grainy malt notes with floral and earthy hops notes – I would wish hops presence would have been more dominant. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation. Not bad considering some of the crap brewed by this brewer but again not really good compared to some other harvest ale out there.

650ml bomber less than 2 weeks old. Pours a partially filtered hazed straw color. A hard pour puts a 2 finger rocky cap on it that reduces to a surface cap that lasts and gives good lacing. Aroma is subtle but pleasing. Light tones of succulent fruits and citrus peel over sweet cereal undertones with a faint muskiness. Pale maltose meets fresh hop oils, like exotic fruit with a light grapefruit rind bite, over a dulcet biscuit dough tone... quenching demure character. Wet, light citrus-bitter finish. Very fresh tasting, approachable and quenching....a tastey mild pale. Not a trace of the signature nasty yeast taste. I would actually seek out and buy more of this but the price is too restrictive. The best effort from this brewer in living memory. Re price it and make it more available and you will go far on this brew.

Hops Picked:Sept 6, 2009. Brewed Sept 6, 2009. Bottled:Sept 21,2009. Delivered:Sept 25,2009. Drank by me Oct 4, 2009. Well this should be fresh. Pours a slightly cloudy gold color with a small white head. Lots of hops in the aroma with a nice fruitiness. The aroma is not very strong but it is nice. The flavour follows the hoppy theme with a nice fruity flavour as well. Finishes with a nice bitterness. Really smooth and drinkable with a medium mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Leaves some nice lacing on the glass.
