Three monkeys brewed this Black IPA and they are within this lively bottle. So, if you choose to pop the cork, be prepared for, "Menage a Singe" - a house full of monkeys. Upon opening, we suggest: Keep your monkeys away from strangers, they bite. Monkeys shatter lamps, use candle light. Have plenty of space, monkeys like to swing. Do you want monkeys in your house? Drink up! And good luck!

Yum yum monkey beer! Fuller, smoother mouthfeel than a standard issue IPA, and a richer malt profile to boot. This levels out the bitter hops that can override and sometimes destroy an IPA...black IPAs seem to be a bit more subdued in that department, and that is probably why I like them more. Bread, crackers, and grass aroma; traces of citrusy hops do percolate out of the flavor occasionally. I can see why any self-respecting hophead would not like this beer, and on that note, it explains why I find it so delicious. dark ruby colored, tan foam with smears of lacing on the glass. the alcohol is rather well hidden, making this a rather dangerous beer. I'll try more Tied House.

not an inspired black ipa. decent balance, look, feel, etc...roasted malt (muted), muted bitterness with a decent dose of citrus hops, but not like your usual dipa. just ok.

750ml bottle -
Aroma - hmmm, light coffee notes, some woody/wet dirt, spicy hops..reminded me a bit of my spice cabinet..light pine/grapefruit also makes an appearance.
Appearance - well, this bottle gushed when the cork came off, probably lost about 1/4 of the bottle I think. I could barely pour the beer into my goblet before it erupted into a 5"+ head. Once things settled down, the body was a black hue, tan head stuck around awhile.
Taste - clearly a unique blend of roasted malts and grapefruity leaning hops. Reminds me a bit of 3F’s Black Sun Stout, w/o the smoke. Some astringent/strong brewed tea puckerness kinda came up on me towards the end.
Palate - over-carbonated I though. Incredibly prickly, and harsh.
Overall - still not decided if this is a style I enjoy. Aside from the carbonation issue, it’s a decent beer. Maybe a bit much for the 750ml bottle though. -

So explosively foamy beer is shot out of the beer so fast and hard I had to deep throat the bottle to prevent it from being wasted. So very thick looking with a brown to pretty much black body. Odd aroma it smells like grape fruit hops has been added to my morning cup of coffee and some apple juice was thrown in to. taste isn’t actually all that bitter but it has a good punch of citrus hops. So strange this is both a coffee stout and an IPA not sure how much I like this combo. For my last couple of sips I taste almost nothing but dirt. This was my first black IPA not sure what to think about it I’m not even sure I liked it.
