The Duck-Rabbit Porter is very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel. We’re confident that you’re really going to love this yummy porter!

I picked this beer up from the Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, Va. This was a very solid porter. A tad thin for me but pretty darn close. I hve said this in posts before, mouthfeel is HUGE for me so if it isn't perfect, I have a tendency to be a bit tougher on the beer. Overall, very nice, would have again.

DISCLAIMER THIS IS WHAT APPEARS TO BE A BAD BOTTLE, ACQUIRED BY TRADE SO I’LL MAST LIKELY NEVER SEE AGAIN AND THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I’LL POST THIS REVIEW. Wow what the hell right from opening the bottle the beer seems way off pure sour coffee being spewed out from the opening. Once poured into glass the sourness continues its full assault on my nostrils, sour coffee, sour chocolate, sour dark roast malt…..you get the idea yet? First couple of sips actually kind of remind me of a Lambic Kriek??? I can taste coffee, chocolate and most other typical porter flavours but this bottle has gone sour. Possible Bret infection at brewery??? Funny thing is this “lambic kriek coffee porter” is almost drinkable wouldn’t say enjoyable but it is drinkable. Crappy bad bottle. The end.

a pretty simple but tasty beer. the aroma is of roasted chocolate malt, with a touch of smoke and hops. thin, everlasting head. medium bodied, prickly mouthfeel. fairly smooth though. chocolate malt and quite a bit more smoke in the flavor. overall, an ok porter. not complicated, but good. thanks Louis for the trade, and (i believe?) a new State.

One 5 oz sample of a 6 beer sampler at 3 son’s in Wexford, nice place. Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Supposedly by the DR owner. Dark, very nice looking with a creamy head. Has a roasty aroma. Overall the aesthetics of this beer is quite appealing. Mild roasty charred flavors greet the palate. Not too much carbonation, but there is this creamy sensation. Burned wood campfire bitterness and char builds thru the session. Good finish but could have a few more manners. Not bad overall, good beer tasting experience. DR porter S6L4F2T5011

Via trade from the one and only bluesandbarbq. A nice hearty porter with aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and smoke, lots of smoke. Flavor was similar with the smoke being the most dominant aspect, but the roasted chocolate malts are noticeable. Good mouthfeel nice and creamy with a dry cocco finish. a nice straight forward porter, thanks Louis.

Holy smokes. what a smokey brew! Pours a pitch black colour with a soft creamy tan head. Noticeable bbq (how ironic) smokey, oakey, chewy roasted malted flavours. Aroma is very smokey, with burned toast, and black licorice on the nose. Flavourful, intriquite and pleasent- definately a belly warmer even on a nice 40 degree day like today. thanks brother Lou!

Pours a deep mahogany black with a thinnish head and nice lacing. Little carbonation. Aromas of toasted and slightly smoky and salty malts with a hint of cocoa and then some hops. Taste is velvety smooth with a great balance malts and hops. A very good simple porter.

Pours a rich sable brown, almost opaque, with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Smoky aroma has some maltiness and coffee undertones. Flavor is rich, strongly of burnt coffee with hints of molasses and some hoppy bitterness. It leaves a hoppy and smoky aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of Turdfurgeson: Poured a light clear black color porter with a huge foamy dirty brown color head with good retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of black chocolate and roasted coffee with a dry ending with limited bitterness. Taste is also dominated by dry coffee and chocolate notes with a nice creamy texture. I really appreciated the creamy texture and the great carbonation. I thought this was a well balance take on the style and would enjoy having regular access to this beer.
