Hazy brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is yeast, caramel malts, raisins, some fruits and a bit spices. Also a little sting of alcohol. Flavour is toffee, yeast, spices, caramel malts some fruits and quite much spices in the finish. Very pleasant beer!

Bottle: Poured a deep clear amber color ale with a super huge foamy head with perfect retention and lacing. Aroma of light dry fruits with some semi-sweet malt and some Belgian yeast characteristics. Taste is also a mix between some subtle dry fruits and some malt with a yeasty finish. Carbonation is great with above average body and no alcohol was discernable. I found that this was lacking in spices or character and kind of end up being slightly boring.

Pours wtih an amber body topped by a medium thick head wtih a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet with a funky cheese note in the nose. The flavor is sweet and malty with notes of candy sugar and a little funky cheese. Light to medium bodied and smooth.

What a treat. I'm not sure what the other raters had a problem with but I found this beer to be exceptional. The aroma was candy sweet, chocolatey, caramels, nutmeg and some alcohol present. Appearance was a muddy brown color, nice head with good lacing. Mouthfeel was exceptional. Not only did I find it creamy and smooth, but very little trace of the 12% alcohol present either (a big plus for me). Flavors were pretty much the same as the nose but I could pick up some earthyness to it also with was very nice. Overall, an excellent beer that I will spend my money on again.

. Murky reddish brown, low bubbly head. Sweet aroma of toffee, vanilla, almond, herbs and peppery alcohol. Sweet warming flavour of vanilla and toffee, notes of milkt chocolate caramel, herbs and grass. Clean and dense mouthfeel. Flat carbonation. Long malty finish of toffee hints alcohol, pepper and pine.

02.17.05 2002 bottle, 11.2oz. Thickly clouded coppery brown. Lofty tan head of fine bubbles. Fruity, malty aromas, juicy fruit gum, dried peas (?!). Thick palate, sweet and creamy with a nice hop bite and some peachy syrupiness. More peas. Maybe it’s something I ate, but it’s uncanny. Good, if weird. Didn’t notice the 12%

I had to check the ratings before I rated this one. It’s incredibly low carbonation. I was worried with the very weak pfssht on cracking the cap, but looking at the ratings here, it’s either an incredibly common problem for this beer, or a flaw in every bottle. Anyway, it pours a cloudy brown. The aroma has a nice brown sugar and honeydew melon fruitiness. The flavor adds toast and a touch of caramel to the mix. This would probably be a great beer if they pumped up the carbonation. The fact I could drink it as flat as it was says something about it.

This poured a murky brown color. The aroma was slightly spicy with some apples and oranges present. The flavor was very citrusy and spicy with a huge dose of orange peels and caramel. The alcohol is present but not overwhelming at all. A good warming belgian.

Poured brown, cloudy and flat. The palate was thin, the flavor minimal. This wasn’t too good.

Pours wth a huge head. Dark brown body with amber colors also. The aroma is very sweet apples and nutmeg. Ginger bread is also present. The taste is a very sweet maple and caramel. This also has a woody hint of dryness. There is a definite spice of nutmeg and some ginger. Finishes fairly spicy. Plenty of carbonation.
