Abbaye des Rocs has full aromas of caramel, chocolate, pit fruit, and a suggestion of cellar mustiness. Luscious flavors interweaving caramel, chocolate, cherries, and a hint of coffee.

Had this gem the other day, and it was mighty fine despite it being a warm summer day. A mahogany coloured elixer with a fruity bouquet that includes raisins, plums, some roastiness, and yeast. Alcohol is well hidden, and the flavour is balanced between hoppy bitterness, and the sweet caramel and fruit notes. A bit pricy at $4/bottle, but a damn good beer.

Wish list beer. Lightly murky brown pour, overabundance of a huge frothy cream head, lacing throughout. Ripe complex aromas and flavors: cherries, dates, plums, toffee, yeasts, chocolate, earthiness, goodness. Rich and creamy, warming and extremely satisfying.

Bottle. Colour - solid dark brown, generous tan head, rocky in nature. Aroma - yeast, plums, candy sugar, caramel, sweet malt. Mouthfeel - full bodied. Flavour - dark fruit, molasses, yeast. Overall - Excellent beer, although a little foamy during the pour left some spilled

750 ml capped bottle, bought at the brewery. Poured in the original Abbaye des Rocs stemmed glass an unfiltered and hazy ruby-brown coloured BSA with a two fingers beige and soapy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. Big floating sediments. The aroma is caramelized malts, dried fruits, plums, dated, figs and yeast. The flavour is heavy caramel malts, spicy, licorice and pepper, fruits, apples, molasses and dried fruits, plums, berries, dates. The mouthfeel is light crispy, fulled, thick, very smooth with a very present alcoholic feeling. The texture is oily. This full bodied BSA has a long fruity and spicy ( peppery ) finish and a light warming effect. A powerful and impressive Belgian Strong Ale from a tiny brewery, close to the French border.

wow. WOW! Definitely unfiltered. Lots of "litter" on the glass. Aroma is strong, dark fruit and banana. Pours medium brown with obvious sediment and a decent tan head. Flavor is amazing. Lots of brown sugar, alcohol hidden. All in all this one is a contenda.

An outstanding solid brown beer that I could drink forever. Alcohol is well hidden and replaced by the braomas and flavours of dark fruits like plums and figs.

Lots of floaties on the pour. Finishes a murky brown with a big foam cap. Smells of yeast and some kind of industrial cleaner. I am afraid to drink this there are so many floaties. What's with all of the foam? Oh my. The taste is terrific. Now I understand the high reviews. I taste brown sugar, spice and raisin. There is fruit cake, nuts and spices. This is possibly the best tatsting beer that I've ever had. The finish is short and a little dry.

Poured a nice dark brown color with a thick off white head that left a decent amount of lace. The aroma was of caramel and dark fruits. Mouthfeel was coating with a cherry flavor with some malty tones very little if any alcohol taste a very enjoyable beer.

Bottles in England, Belgium, and America
Aroma: caramel malt, candy sugar, yeast, plums
Appearance: solid brown, reddish hints, off white generous head
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly creamy
Flavour: Malty and sweet with a definite sugary hint. Alcohol is more notiecable in fresher bottles than older bottles Overall: a nice complex bitter!
