Tours a very thick tan colored head which lasts and lasts and lasts and is easily roused up when you swirl your glass to take in the aroma! Aroma is slightly yeasty, but not overwhelming. Cloudy dark brown color, sort of like Dr. Pepper or Coke. Taste is very clean considering the alcohol content. Could be easy to pound several of these, but would hate to face the consequences the next day. Flavor is slightly warming with alcohol and yeast in the palate.Slight raisiny flavor too.

Dark brown with a light brown/off white head. Fruity smell but not as pronounced as the Rochefort 10. Ended with a bitter fruit taste.

33cl bottle. Pours hazy brown with an off-white to beige head. Malty and fruity aroma with dried fruits, caramel and hints of chocolate and alcohol. Sweet, fruity and well balanced. Very pleasant beer, a pure pleasure to drink. (2012-10-26)

bottle at home, red copper beer with a small head, aroma is malt, fruit. Taste is malt, fruit, caramel, spices. Nice

Bottle at Brussels Hilton. Slight sour nose. Cloudy dark brown beer with solid off-white head which stays. Really tingly mouthfeel, quite fun. Taste is sour followed by deep dark malts. Alcohol notes all over the palate. Caramel becomes apparent as it warms. Complex sipping material, but not my favourite style.

330ml bottle
Appearance: Poured murky dark brown with floating yeast chunks. Large dirty light tan head that dissipates quickly, some lacing in the glass
Aroma: Sweet malts, dark fruits
Taste: Sweet malts, spices, hot alcohols. Medicinal/band-aide aftertaste that sticks around.
I really like the 10, but this not even close. I had the 10 on tap in Belgium so maybe that is the difference. I’ll try a bottle of 10 tonight to compare.
*Edit - I tried the 10 and stick with my comments. The 10 is very smooth and balanced, unlike the 8.Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 8
Nice tight tan head with lacing that is there till the end.Hazey copper color. Nose is slightly spicey, yeasty.Medium bodied with a bready yeasty taste. Creamy palate with a decent finish.

Murky brown color with thin vanishing off white head. Aroma is sugary, toffee, molasses and a hint of spice. Thick chewy mouth feel. It has explosive carbonation. Flavor is very smooth and sweet sugar (maybe beets), molasses and a bit of toffee. Along the edge of my tongue are spicy flavor notes. Good beer. Too sweet for my taste. If given a choice between the 8 and the 6 the 6 wins easily.

C: Deep Mahogany, ruby highlights, long lasting generous head
A: Dark fruit, chocolate. Roasted malt
P: Full Bodied
F: Nicely balanced, not as sweet as the 10 with the dark fruits showing more than the sugar
O: All three Rochefort beers are pretty much identical (they start out as the same virgin batch) but the length of time they leave the batch in the vat really allows the beer to improve leaving the 10 a much better beer than the 6Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 10
I've drank Rochefort 8 many ,many times over the years , just last Sat I had a session of five bottles of these @ a local boozer (pub) . I could say this is captivating but you know that or that it's as smooth as criminal and you should know that too. Smooth, addictive, complex, yet friendly and God damn flavourful :That's Rochefort 8 as an experience. It pours out a Brown liquid ,with a good looking beige head: the aroma points @ raisin.dark cherry. milk chocolate. spicy floral hops(when fresh) Drinking this fine beer you receive a powerful smack of rich intense dark complex flavours. Boozy dark fruits. The smooth chocolate notes. A good dry backdrop stops it getting overly cloying. A damn ,damn great beer : this kinda complexity is actually pretty simple : It kicks ass!!
