Typical alcoholly flavor of a strong ale. Chimay is the standard that others are compared to! Fairly rocky head, but it didn't last nearly as long as I rememberd in the past. Nice orangey-brown color. The aroma that came out of the bottle when I first uncapped it was wonderful scent of fresh yeast. From the glass it was more muted, but that could be due to the lingering cold I have.

Birthday present, 750 ml bottle. Tulip glass. Cork pops, mist appears. Hazy orange/bronze beer with off-white head and champagne carbonation. Nose of yeast, fruit, malt, dough. Spicy fruity taste, smooth texture. Really easy to drink at 9%! Finish has more fruit and floral notes. Alcohol only becomes noticeable very late on, but not unpleasant. As it warms, more malt is apparent. Classic.

Dark brown, with very little head. Pleasant fruit aroma with a bitter/chocolate taste and malt. Definitely a stocker in my fridge!

11.2 oz Bottle. Pours a murky brown color with whipped cream fluffy tan head. The aroma is really difficult to pick up. I get just a sense of sweetness and spice. The aroma could be a bit more assertive. The taste is smooth malts, brown sugar and spice (maybe cinnamon and a bit of pepper). Really smooth. So much so that I can’t pick out distinct flavors. Can a beer be too smooth? Nay!

33cl bottle (2004 vintage) from Vinmonpolet Ullevål Station, Oslo. Pours very dark brown to chestnut with a minimal head. Malty and vinous with raisins, some earthy notes and caramel. More vinous than I remember it, but guess the aging has made some difference. Feels a bit thin, but certainly flavourful. Sweet and dessert, possible over the top at this age, but still decent.

11oz. bottle. Big offwhite head, rocky, a buch of sticky lacing. Fairly clear, pretty chestnut color. Medium body. Malty, somewhat roasty and fruity. Carbonation is a little much. Dry, ho hum finish.

Reckon I’ve just got a odd pallet. This is the third of the three styles of Chimay I’ve tried. I’m just not a fan. Everyone else around just goes wild about these beers I’m just not a fan. Suppose the other folks haven’t drank better Belgium beers.

Pours a thin amount of head that doesn't really stay long. Has a cloudy dark coppery/brown appearance. Has yeasty and bready malt aromas. Alcohol is actually quite noticeable and very much in your face compared to other 9% beers. Very strong and bitter. Also some resin and dark fruits. Astringent sensation. Chalky and tingling mouthfeel. Not bad but strong alcohol and bitterness. Much preferred the white cap Chimay.
