This Bavarian-style unfiltered wheat beer (Hefeweizen) is brewed with 50% malted wheat. The authentic German strain of yeast imparts a flavor and aroma reminiscent of cloves, bananas, and bubble gum. Traditionally, weizen beers feature a medium body and high level of spritzy carbonation, and are served as a thirst quencher or sometimes a breakfast beer in the summer. Pair with salad, cheese soup & fruit deserts. Characteristics - • Bavarian yeast strain • Light, refreshing • Banana esters w/ hints of bubblegum & clove

A really great hefeweizen. This one packs a lot of colour, aroma and flavour into the bottle. A vibrant cloudy yellow gold colour with a huge white hear. Aroma of malt, banana, and cloves fill the air. Flavour is definitely on the sweet side but not overpoweringly so.

Not one of my favorites by Stoudts. Yeasty, wheaty aroma. Cloudy unfilterd texture with a yellow-orange color. Light carbonation with a light white head. Smells a little skunky from the yeast. Has a sweet taste with light hoppy bitter aftertaste. Still has a clear smooth finish like every other Stoudts that I had. Think I would prefer a typical american wheat over this one.

My ambition to pursue more German style Weizen beers this summer continues. This one from Stoudts is pretty tasty. The beer itself has the typical foggy mellow yellow color that Hefeweizens are known for, with a white head the collapses quickly. Banana, spice and malt smells rise to the sinuses. The palate is smooth and light, with a sudsy texture that is not harsh. Nice and fruity with wheat, coriander and juniper flavors mixed in. Bitterness from the malt and hops are found in the finish.

KCC Round 5. Unfiltered, very pale yellow with a towering white head. No lace. Overtly clovey in the taste. Very dry mouthfeel. All cloves in the finish. No, I do not like this beer alone. It requires some accompanying morsel.

Aroma is clean and estery with hints of ripened light fruit as well as some banana and maybe some slight bubblegum with some wheaty overtones as well as some apple spice. The appearance is sunshine yellow and not as cloudy as I would expect with a medium head on top that diminishes to a fuzzy, white lacing that adheres to the glass. The mouthfeel light to medium in body with some decent complexity and balance with a palate that is thin but wet. The flavor is of wheat malt and some breadiness as well as some spice with an aftertaste that is watery but well-carbonated and a finish that is crisp and clean but lacking very much. Overall, not a bad brew here and not the best product from Stoudts by no means; it is good for what it is I suppose...

Beer poured orangey yellow color with rather unimpressive head. Aroma was wheaty and clovey. At first sip, I thought the mouthfeel was just too carbonated and the "roughness" just turned me off...but I really liked the flavor of this one, especially as it warmed. Wheaty, spicey (cloves) with some bubblegum/orangey undertones. Sweet but not overdone. Some sediment at the bottom. Nice. I'm a fan of Stoudts.

Good poor from this tawny blond hefe. Nice head and head retention. Notable cinnamon overtones. Unfortunately, lacks complex character, full mouthfeel, and flavor.

Pours a pale blonde with a bright but low white head. Fruity, spicy, with a sour citrus aftertone. Overall a little weak and not very balanced for my liking. It's just awright, dawg.

Re-rate, 7/07: Bumped up the flavor a point, pretty good stuff, nice stateside Hefe. My previous review description is pretty dead on, although the flavor was fuller this time around. Original rating: Poured a cloudy yellow color with a decent initial head (the best in my recent American takes on the style) and good lacing. The aroma was citrus and bananas. Flavor was a good balance of bananas and cloves, although as this thing warmed, the cloves took over and this thing started finishing with some zip, almost like it was a hops / phenolic combined whamo. Certainly not like an IPA or anything, but for the style it was a nice touch. Even a little pepper added to the clove-ness. Mouthfeel was light and the flavor could have been a little stronger to make it special.

White fizzy-fluffy head that didn't last long. Golden amber color. No lacing. Toasted banana aroma with a little spice. Med-light body that's a little zesty. Soury citrus flavor. Not great, but I've had this beer sitting around for a long time!
