This beer poured with a nice deep dark brown to black body topped off by a medium sized fluffy beige colored head that left a small ammount of lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma is vanilla bean, chocolate and a touch of coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly thin and watery given the style. The flavor is a very nice blend of sweet chocolate malts, vanilla bean, rich dark coffee with some light smokey tones as well.

this was pretty good. mucho vanilla et chocolate. like bittersweet chocolate with vanilla to make it sweet. mouthfeel was a little thin and acidic, but otherwise, so good.

A good concept for a porter, but poor execution with this one makes for a very uneventful experience. The beer poured vey dark into the glass with minimal head and even less lacing. I like my porters thick and heavy but this one was neither. Not much in the aroma department, you could tell that it was going to be malty and slightly sweet but that's about it. Very light on the mouth and throat, feels more like an ale than a porter. The taste is decent at best, in fact it's borderline bland. The vanilla is subtle which works nice, but what this beer is lacking are the complex dark roasted malts that are standard with porters. Not an awful beer by any means, but absolutely dissapointing.

Dark reddish brown with a head that is slow to form. The aroma is caramel and vanilla with a slight touch of creosote (but not an off-putting amount). The flavor is sweet with a bit of cola adding to the caramel and vanilla. Slightly sugary in the finish. A bit of oak. A nice sipper, but seems a little flat in the flavor.

Ugh! This porter is horrible. The pour is dark with very little head at all. The smell is absolutely awful. I can't describe it, but it is without a doubt the worst smelling beer I have ever had. The taste is very sour, the vanilla could be in there I guess, but I couldn't get past the terrible smell and sour taste to find out. Might make a good motor oil, but does not make a good beer.

Now I see why hey_kevin gave me this bottle. He wanted to get rid of it. Pours with a small, light orange head. The body is black as night. Aroma is vanilla, vomit and a little malt. The taste is sweetened, vanilla flavored coffee. Overall, an overrated porter.

A unique beer in my experience. I would describe the flavor similar to Mackesons with that awesome vanilla blast at the end of the swallow. Will be in my beer fridge from now on!

A fine beer no question. Pours very dark, almost black except a little red around the edges. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla, with slight hints of a coffeish scent. Tastes is very similar to Magic Hat Ravell, except Ravell's vanilla flavor is a little more subdued. Chocolate roasty flavors, followed quickly by vanilla flavors. I liked this, but I think the vanilla was a touch too strong. Very good regardless, and definitely worth a try.

Very let down. Perhaps just a skunked batch. It was terribly bitter. yes there was vanilla present, but the alcohol taste was present, and the overall bitterness of it left me wanting more.

Very nice porter, however, where is the vanilla? I could not taste any hint of it. What I got was a nice dark foamy head and the taste of burnt coffee, which was great. This was not a heavey beer though and is a very drinkable beer if you plan on having a couple.
