Our Dry-Hopped APA uses a hefty dose of American hops to create a bold, bitter ale. After fermentation, the beer is re-circulated through a tank packed with hops for 7 days, for added hop flavor and aroma. We use American ale yeast and Northern American caramel malt to showcase the purity of the 100% whole cone Cascade and Chinook hops. In the long view of the history of beer, American Pale Ale is a newcomer. Based on English Pale Ale, American brewers have made this style their own. Born out of the re-emergence of Pale Ale during the 1980’s American beer scene, APA is the bold, hoppier cousin of Pale Ale. With an emphasis on American hops, APA is gaining popularity. Breweries are racing to make the hoppiest, bitterest ales possible.

I didn't care for their regular pale ale at all, but found this quite decent and drinkable. The dry-hopping and whatever else they do for the "APA" qualities work wonders. Still about average for the style though, and not really worth seeking out with all that's out there.

Enjoyed at Bob's Your Uncle in Iowa City, IA on tap. Not an overpowering amount of hops but enough to give it the bitterness desired with some citrus flavor rounded out nicely by the malt sweetness. Not a blow you away pale ale but still very drinkable and well with the spice on the pizza. I would order this again.

Rounded out my mixed sixer at a stop in Richmond, Kentucky while heading down to meet up with Blue Lou and the rest of the crew. Only a touch over two months old, and very underwhelming. Great looking pour, but the aroma lacks the dry hopping I was promised and the flavor has a pale lager approach. Digging deeper I do get a hint of hops, but it's weak. Mild bitterness which would work well if the hops were more floral.

Light sour hop aroma on a super clear beer with a thick foamy white head. Mouthfeel is just a little fuller than average and the flavor is quite mild. A fruity hop taste with just a hint of lingering bitterness. An easy drinking everyday beer.

I sampled this beer at The Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, Va! This beer was pretty good but nothing to write home about - it was generally ordinary in all respects. The dry hopping provided a splash of extra bitterness. I'm glad I tried it but would rather spend my money on something else.

On tap @ Flying Saucer, Memphis. Medium yellow, slight amber pour with a tight white head and copious amounts of lacing. Great nose of grapefruit and slight apricot with a touch of honeysuckle and malts; clean and slightly floral too. Taste is citrusy bitter with big grapefruit and fresh fruits, and honey, nice light sweet malt balance . This is a very good APA - fresh and on tap it is a Knockout!

Pours orange to coppoer with a two-finger white head - retains and laces well. Requisite citrus/pine/hoppiness in a very balanced and drinkable proportion. Clean finish. A nice APA.

Hazy, golden/orange color with some yellow highlights around the bottom. Nice, white, thick head that was somewhat creamy with suitable retention and very nice lacing. Looks worthy to me. Suitable grapefruit citrus aromas. Some dry wheat and biscuit malt aromas come through very nicely and balance the citrus. Got just a hint of orange as the brew warmed. Very well balanced and no excessive. Favorable flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus. The bitterness is comfortable and is well-mannered. Slight hints of caramel malt compliment the wheat and biscuit essence. Medium mouthfeel. Dry, crisp, smooth and mostly refreshing. The palate is treated to amiable amounts of flavors and they tend to hang around for a good long while. This brew is, without a doubt, a sleeper in my opinion. Solid all around. It's sessionable, easy to drink, pleasant on the eyes and taste buds and is just really pretty darn good. It's not outstanding, but better than most. A pleasant suprise that I will visit again sometime this Spring or Summer.
