Saranac Octoberfest is a rich flavorful lager. We use imported two-row and crystal malt and balance it with the pleasant bitterness of Saaz and Tettang hops.

Pured dark with basically no head. had a strong taste with a bitter traste and a slight bite. It is smooth with a nice balence but i was expecting more form an octoberfest beer.

Clear orange yellow with small white foam head. Aroma is mucho sweet malty. Taste is watery malty, quite bubbly, not too great. Aftertaste is like a watered down. (Montreal 201210)

follows in line with the others i've had from their line-up. non-offensive and fairly true to style, but also usually a little thin and boring. this one was no exception. a little generic on the malts, though it satisfied a craving. kinda.

Picked this one up in Maryland. Pours into the glass a bronze colour with a frothy off white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is malty, sort of sweet with some peanut smell. Taste is fairly normal for a Oktoberfest. But it has a certain glassy quality to it. That throws things off for me.Otherwise pretty full and not a whole lot of caramel. just right.

Vile and disgusting bordering on criminal best describe this beer. It bears no resemblance whatsoever to a real Octoberfest beer. Very thin beer, with a thin, weak head and far too much carbonation.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: The body has a medium amber color with good clarity and a modest size, just off white head. It fades quickly down to a very thin covering that makes only a little slick lacing. Smell: Its aroma has herbal hop notes with light hints of sweet caramel and bready malt. Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has an average but still very good mix of sweet caramel and bready malt with spicy/herbal and mildly floral hops. It has a solid medium body with a soft texture and carbonation. The finish leans a bit towards the hops and the drinkability is very good. Notes: Overall it’s a solid yet safe Oktoberfest beer.

I enjoyed the crisp flavor of this beer. It was the first Octoberfest style that I've tried, so what to expect I did not know. Good amber color and also a nice head from the pour. Hops present and accounted for, slightly bitter aftertaste, though. It went well with the venison that we ate, so that's a plus too.

Pretty good for the first time having it. I'll check it out next year also to see if it gets any better.

09.05.04 12oz bottle. Dark amber pour, smallish head, no lacing, flat looking. Light malty, bready aroma with slight hoppiness. Very thin body, quite watery, with a sharp eff zing. Some unpleasant acidity that is not tart but sour. Not very good, in fact, drinking this beer has been a rather unpleasant experience.

Beer poured typical golden brown color with moderate head. The aroma was nothing special...typical lagerish aromas. I find myself more and more in love with the octoberfest lagers. The additional spices give these beers more depth and character than regular lagers. This beer was well balanced between malty sweetness and lager bitterness, with a nice amount of spice in there to jazz it up. I agree with eaglefan...the best of the Saranac brews I've had.
