This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter.

This one was like a marishino cherry soda. It was not heavy like a stout and was very easy to drink. I got this in the brewmaster pack and most of those beers were quite good. Im not a huge SA fan but this one was a good tasting and refreshing brew for a hot Hawaiian thanksgiving.

Sampled on 12/31/2014. This fruit beer pours a dark brown/black color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and good retention. The aroma is fruity, bready and sweet, hints of cherry, chocolate, and dark fruit. A medium bodied fruit/bock beer. The malts are dark fruity, bready and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Nice balance of fruit, chocolate and malts. A touch sweet but very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some cherry.

This was just too much for me, it smelled good but it was the candied flavors that i couldn't get past. More like cherry coke than a beer. Tough one to finish.

I'm a little disappointed with this year's Winter Classics. I usually live for this variety pack during the season, but they got rid of the holiday porter as well as replacing the regular chocolate bock with this. Pretty much tastes like the chocolate bock blended with cherry wheat (maybe without the wheat but same flavor). Not a big fan. After the initial cherry shock, it sort of works with the chocolate malt...but overall not that great of a brew. I salute the attempt, just not sold on the idea.

Admittedly a HUGE fan of the Chocolate Bock but this was barely drinkable. It carries that same phony cherry flavor their wheat beer has and that was a turn-off. The aroma is really nice with a good, strong chocolate/cherry aroma but that's the end of the positive review. Overly sweet, and for me the cherry/chocolate flavors didn't work here. -

Part of their Winter Favorites 12-pack for winter 2013. Pours a dark brown with red highlights. The head is big, frothy, warm beige, has good retention and a little creamy lace around the edges of the brew. Smells like cherries at first, like Nibs, but after a while, darker malts come out giving some chocolate notes. Even hints of maple. The cherry is not as strong as their "Cherry Wheat" I had last night, but nicely balanced with the chocolate and coffee. A nutty flavours follows in the aftertaste. A nice blend of things in this one.

On tap @ Bearden Beer Market. Nice deep brown pour with a creamy sustained head and plenty of lacing. Abundant cherry above chocolate nose and flavors, a touch artificial on the cherries, more pronounced as it warms, the cherry covered chocolate thing works alright but the Chocolate Bock is much better by itself. A bit of a letdown but still worth trying.

Bottled for 2013. Yay!! I've long been a huge fan of chocolate bock, even when it was in big overpriced bottles. This could have gone so wrong. Cherry flavor can end up medicinal, but they really nail the cherry in this, especially in the nose. Slightly tart and complex and nearly perfectly balanced. The flavor is a little sweeter. A lesson in decadence from a 5.8% beer. Like German chocolate cake spiked with tart and sweet cherries. LOVE this. Wish I could get just this instead of the mixer :) Aroma 9.5, flavor 8.5.

A black appearance with a small beige head. Faint aromas of chocolate and cherries. The flavor is rather sweet with some chocolate, cherries, and spices. The finish is somewhat sour but mostly sweet. Overall this beer is pretty good.
