Yeeow! Especially for the holidays, a brown ale with real attitude! The malts used to make Warm Welcome are roasted to give a hearty amber-brown color and a warm, rounded nutty taste. This fine ale is dedicated to all you curious brew-lovers out there who ever had serious questions about Santa's supposed arrival by way of the chimney. (How does he do that, anyway?)

Expecting a little more from something form this region. Same thing with the Bad King John. Good but not great. Lighter brown colored, on the clear side. Mouthfeel is decent and smooth. Flavor of caramel malt with some spice. Good hop finish with some belgian-like yeast qualities. Flavor kind of growing up me towards the end of the sample, but just can't give it an 8. Has potential, but only a little above average here.

It pours a hazy copper and amber with a thin off-white head and a ring of surrounding lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, oranges and citrus flavors, pumpkin and mango, some nuttiness and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, orange and citrus, pumpkin and mango, nuts, and spiciness. Wonderful!

Spicy aroma has tones of cinnamon, malt and caramel. It pours a fizzy coppery amber with a very thick, fluffy, just-off-white head. Flavor is malty with an undertone of spice, mainly cloves and cinnamon, and just a touch of caramel. Texture is smooth, a bit on the watery side, and barely fizzy. Still, this is an enjoyable beer.

I got a translucent orange-amber colored ale. A big foamy white head sits atop. Settles in awhile into a nice lacing. A light smoky, nuttiness malt rises to the nose. The body is carbonated. It has a syrupy light texture. I get a skunkiness in the taste. Not pleasant.

Pours a deep amber with a thick cream head that leaves lots of lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of malts, a little fruit esters, and slight hops. Taste is smooth with a nutiness and slightly sweet maltiness then a little hops.

got in the ridgeway christmas sampler pack .. pours a dark tawny red colour ... lacing is decent for an english brown .. easy going brew .. at least this beer isn't spiced, points for that but is nothing special... does scream in english though..

This poured a deep brown with medium head Aromas of malt with some brown sugar and nuts. I have been lucking out finding well balanced beers and ales that are simply enjoyable with no one flavor or aroma kicking you in the head. This did not disappoint. A nut brown ale that is subtle and quiet that could be enjoyed with some nice aged cheddar.

While this was a fairly good beer I have to say that the most impressive part was the appearance. This poured a nice, deep amber color with a good sized head....very appealing looking. The aroma was somewhat malty but not overly powerful. The taste was a bit subtle and smooth with a blend of malts and spices coming through.

How many Christmas themed beers can a brewery make? Is there any other brewery on earth that comes close to making this many Christmas themed beers? Damn. Perfectly clear brown (just brown, no special qualifiers this time). The head is big bubbled and airy. The aroma is a light maltiness, a touch of nuts of course. The flavor is pleasantly malty, but a touch thin. Not bad, but a definitely boring. The label is more interesting than the beer.

NorCal tasting Jan 07 - This was hard to stomach. The first impressions of the aroma on this beer was garbage. Litterally, it reminded me of smelly garbage. Another person thought it was like vomit. Not good. The appearance had something going for it, as it was a clear, chesnut brown with a smallish head. Palate was thin and watery, with a blah flavor with nothing really standing out, except perhaps some sweetness. It finished dry. Pretty forgettable stuff. Funny label though.
