Beer no. 3 of my 12 Beer of Christmas 2012. Rich black pour, tall and sustained tan head, copious amounts of lacing. Rich toasted malt aroma immediately offset by earthy hops presence, some dark chocolates, very light molasses, more hops. Flavor mimics the nose with rich roasted malts, earthy and bitter hops which actually mellow as the beer warms a touch, cocoa, light brown sugar, very nice mellow bitter linger. This is definitely one of the best of this style that I have tried. Kudos to the Pelican - this is NOT a Bad Santa; This is a very good Santa.

From Haggen (Burlington, WA) in a bomber. Too expensive, really, at $7.39. Rocky light brown head of a clear and dark brown pour. For the nose, there were piney hops and malt. For the palate, there was piney hops and more malt than in the aroma. Bitter note at the finish. Not at all a favourite style of mine, but this one was not a bad rendition.
