Give me your tears, Gypsy! This ruby red ale will mesmerize you with a caravan of malt flavour and entrancing hop presence. A ruby red coloured ale with a rich caramel malt flavour and a burst of west coast hop aroma. Using only late hop additions and dry-hopping, the bitterness is restrained while the hop flavour and aroma are large

I’ve been seeing this crop up in liquor and beer stores across the Ottawa Valley so I had to try it. It’s nothing memorable, that’s for sure. A slightly hazed reddish-0brown pour with a generous off-white head. Bready and caramel malt notes comprise the aroma with a hint of weak earthy hops. Flavour is a sweet malty onslaught that can’t be balanced by what little hop presence exists. A fail in my eyes.

Thanks to my buddy Spoon for the 6pk. Pours a fair size frothy beige head and has a slightly murky amber appearance. Lively carbonation. Aromas of roasted malts, hints of toffee and earthy hops. Flavours are mostly sweet and malty with strong bitter citrus notes, hints of caramel and subtle spices. Has a nice bitterness on the palate. Medium bodied. Not bad.

bottle - pours a hazed copper-red ale with s smallish 1 finger tight cap that reduces to a surface lace and lasts. Aroma is flush with west coast hops - citrus, mango, grapefruit, pine, but only a small hint of caramel malt. Flavour follows aroma with a bit more malt balance - more crystal in this than caramalts - too bad because that wouls compliment the hop varieties used. Good drinking ale with a mild hop bite.

Nice, slightly hoppy, slightly bitter amber ale that is many steps above the average amber, but in a style that is not my favourite. Malt is still prevalent and the yeast character seems to be slightly british. Decent beer, could be a good entry level beer for someone who hasn't had an IPA before.

Got this 6-pack "Un-paralleled Mixed Pack" at the LCBO with 3 different beers. Pours a real deep amber colour with a frothy light beige head that has great retention and foamy lace. For an amber ale, this has got quite the hoppy nose. Feels like an IPA with some grapefruits citrusy aromas and very light fruity malts. The taste is where it feels like an amber ale with mild roasted malts, caramel, nuts and coffee notes. Not as bitter, but a slight dryness from the hop comes out in the mouthfeel. The pines resin does appear after a while. So, badly printed label, but a decent amber ale a-la-IPA. Interesting hybrid.
