Oktoberfest is our version of the perennial favorite Bavarian Autumn beer. Oktoberfest’s deep golden hue helps bring to mind the old country and its time honored traditions. Brewed with Hallertau and Tettnang hops to balance its clean, malty sweetness, it’s the perfect brew for a crisp Autumn day. Available from August to November.

Doughy with a sweet nuttiness followed by caramel and a floral hop kiss. Classic festbier aromas, but the flavor is not as pronounced. Light bodied, balanced and crisp. Clear copper body, 1/2" white head with thick stringy lacing. Good offering, but it could use more body and less sweetness.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass Appearance: It has a hazy appearance with a medium orange amber colored body. The head is just off white in color, small and fades quickly to a light ring of lace. Smell: There is a mild aroma of sweet bready malt with an odd ginger like spice and earthy dried leafy hops. Taste/Mouth feel: It has interesting malty character with some caramel roasted flavors mixed with buttery sour dough bread notes and dry yeast. Hop flavor is in good balance and adds leafy and mildly spicy hop flavors which quickly fade off in the finish. It has a smooth texture, average carbonation and a good medium body. Notes: Overall it's a solid Aber Ale/Oktoberfest beer.

I enjoy trying different Marzen style beers every year. Even if the american brewers rarely hit the style on the head, its an enjoyable beer drinking time of year. An autumn orange color with a small tan head. Caramel malts, slightly toasty. Lacking depth but still enjoyable and my second Okfest brew this year. Not bad.

Beer pours deep orange amber with a little head and no lacing. Aroma smelled like wet burnt leaves...hey, at least it resembled autumn! Flavor was better...nice blend of toast, caramel and nuts with a little earthiness to it...an above average oktoberfest.

Pretty clear pale orangish color. Perhaps a little sweetness in this yeasty aroma. Can’t read the date on this 12 oz twist off cap bottle. Slight petroleum taste on the back of the palate. Has more bitter personality compared to other fest beers. Good medium carbonation. Building controlled malt bitterness parks itself in the finish and hangs around for a while.

This beer pours a brownish colour with a big fluffy head. it starts of sort of malty and finishes sweet. Hardly any bitterness in the palate, but has a tiny bit of mint toward the finish before it ends up sweet. one of my favorite oktoberfests.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a weak white head. No lacing. Aroma is toffee-like with a hint of caramel. Flavor is okay, with malt dominating. Nothing complex. A slightly above average Oktoberfest beer.

Bottled on 8-13-03, batch 1399. It seems I'm the first to review this year's batch. Hmm, it's barely two weeks old. No clue what last year's was like. Very festive looking bottle with yellow, beige, and brown leaves all around, which makes this an interesting beer to drink when it's like 95 outside still. Pours a nice amber color with a respectable head and nice lacing. Smells strongly of hops, but also heavy with malt. Taste is interesting. Well balanced, to say the least. The bottle states Hallertau and Tettnamg hops and they're definately present with just a hint of a citrus aftertaste. Caramel malt is noticable. It's good, but I think it could use another month's worth of aging to allow it to mellow and grow a bit more complex. I'd say to wait longer, but with the lower alcohol content I don't know if it will last a whole year. Mouthfeel is nice and thick. Drinkability scores well as I'll definatly be revisiting this again this season and may adjust my rating accordingly. Definately worth seeking out.

Great cream head. Octoberfest should allow some differnt flavors to hit thee tongue. No hits. bland not bitter. Like they forgot the hops. Malt was good thickness.

hate to not recommend beers from breweries that I love, and I do love Otter Creek, but in this case I must. For the same reason I did with Harpoon, these ales posing as marzens just won't do. Like the Harpoon, this is a tasty enough beer, its from a great brewery, but why bother? Go with the German imports and domestic examples that are stylistically accurate if you want a real Oktoberfest bier. Otter Creek "Oktoberfest" pours to an amber color with a nice white head, and good carbonation. Like the Harpoon, the nose is wrong, aromas of fruity esters mingle with a touch of caramel maltiness, and some nice hop aromatics. The palate is fruity as well, with a good bit of chocolate malt flavors, and a touch of nutty malt flavors. That signature toasty malt flavor is to be found no where in this beer. This beer finishes slightly sweet up front, then dries out with a good hop bite. Is this a good beer? Yes it is, I enjoy it, but not as an Oktoberfest/Marzen. Pass on this beer if you want a real Octobefest. Its a good amber ale, but there are plenty of those out there.
