Brewed by Okanagan Spring in 1989, this is BC's original and favourite Pale Ale. Clear and Copper coloured, it is fruity on the palate and heart in hops with a nice, round finish. We are honoured that Pale Ale continues to be BC's most popular craft brew. The taste and quality of our pale ale is what we mean when we say "craft-brewed". Inspired by beer lovers, we use the best ingredients, longer brewing times, and exacting care during each step of the process.

Free one at a friend's house, not a beer that I'd purchase. Strictly sub-par in all respects. Mehhhhh all around, they're stretching things to call this an ale.

Poured a coppery amber appearance, sort of reddish hue. The head just went away pretty quickly and has weak lacing. Malty and grainy aromas. Has a pretty good balance of hops and malts in the flavour, with a touch of nutmeg and some spices. Has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Not too bad.

Clear copper yellow colored with white creamy head. Aroma is fresh malty and taste is little bittert, with some sweet fruity tones. Short aftertaste, dry indeed. (Ottawa 201210)

I look at the side of the bottle and I marvel at why OK Springs sells beers by 'colour chart' rather than by bitterness or even body, or something that actually reflects on the characteristics of the beer. O well..... Anyways, copper beer, (in the middle of the OK colour wheel), lightly dry hopped it would seem. Really sweet but has a slightly bittering aroma, of grass and diluted englishy hops. Soggy crakers, maybe something corn like. Its really not great and seems to be a bit watered down.

The appearance is the only redeeming thing about this swill. Beautiful head gives way to gorgeous copper colour. Other than that. Burnt caramel aroma and a cloying mouthfeel that sticks to the back of the throat gives way to a weak EPA knock off.

This is now available in Ontario in 6 packs, and I'm afraid it all needs to go back from whence it came. This pale ale is a weak golden orange in colour, with a thin head. Lots of skunk in the aroma to go along with weak hops. Flavour is milky sweet....and that's not good in beer.

The beer poured a translucent copper colour with a 1" light brown head. The aroma was floral hops and grainy malt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt with some residual sweetness that didn't sit well with me.

Sampled on cask at Hair of the Dog, Toronto. Pours a nice copper color with perfect clarity, minimal head. Aroma is weak by style, though not unpleasant, with minimal citrus hops character. Smells mainly like a swill lager. Light bodied but not watery, strong but not offensive carbonation. Not a bad sample at all. Still, weak for a pale ale. 5

Copper body very nice crown on top. Light sweet caramel aroma with floral hop hints nothing to special extremely mild but pleasant. Light crisp taste some astringent but good, mild to weak malts are tasty just not enough power behind them. There is a bitter hop finish but with no real hop flavour, I guess I can taste some citrus in the after taste. Good light beer to sit back and drink I’m glad I found it on tap.

After the first sip I'm still not a fan of Okanagan beers. I'm still waiting for that one beer to turn me but I'm really losing faith. Poured out a thin white cap that vanishes but the colour is good - nice hue of amber. The aroma is a cross between English and Canadian styles. English hops, some grain, close to cardboard, stale crackers, faint caramel - to me this is not a sweet aroma, not even one bit. The taste is pretty plain and that is what kills this beer. More English hops, slight spicy zing, slight sweetness that has a touch of fruit, caramel. Actually, when I put my mind to it the flavour is not that bad but who wants to concentrate this hard with this beer? Good body but I'm torn on the carbonation. Finishes with mild bitterness and dryness. Let it warm up to be able to milk out it's best qualities. Looks like another long gap between Okanagan purchases.
