Our beautiful Amber named Abner is a session brew dedicated to California State Senator Abner Weed, founder of the town in which we craft our delicious brews. The red colored ale has a stable, tan head, and an aroma of mild hops with overtones of carmel and roasted malt. This rich ale starts sweet and malty, then progresses into a light bitter flavor. Slightly thick on the palate, our Amber at 5.5% ABV has a balanced bitterness resulting from a combination of Chinook and Cascade hops. It ends clean with a light lingering bitterness at 43 IBUs. We raise our glasses in celebration to our town Weed!" 41.8 IBU - 5.5% ABV

The caps read "A friend in Weed is a friend indeed." There is no end to the ways that town will market itself...you'd think being mentioned in Of Mice And Men would be enough. The amber was not as interesting as the porter. A great beer, but not one I would repeat now that I have a choice. Standard-issue light brown color, light head, and medium mouthfeel. An easy to drink beer, but not quite enough oomph. Sweetish toffee malts, but balanced out with a slight kick of hops (I say slight because I couldn't really get a feel for the hop character...citrus or pine or..etc). An easy session beer.

Had never heard of this brewery before I saw a six pack of this in Salem Comes in a 12 oz brown bottle with a olde time picture of Mr Weed, i presume ,on the label. In appearance this a quite dark "amber" ale, very deep amber almost brown, small yet appealing tan head, gorgeous lace left down the glass. Aroma is very malty, sweet toffeeish malt. Mmm very sweet malty beverage , with a small hop "kick" right at the end, which prevents the beerr becoming cloying. I like it ,though I am a fan of sweet malty beers, a hop head might take a different view. The mouthfeel is excellent, quite thick for the style, low carbonation makes this easy to go down. Nice beer , very sweet but also very drinkable for me.
