Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades hop is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice.

This refreshing Ale was a rich copper-red in appearance and poured with a white head that lasted several minutes. The taste was a rich hoppy flavour with a spicy overtone. I would recommend this Ale to anyone who enjoys a true IPA.

The beer pours a hazy amber color with a weak creamy tan colored film. The aroma is citrusy hops, some caramel malt, some bread, and some must. The mouthfeel is weak to full bodied. The flavor is grapefruit, caramel, and grass. Not a bad APA.

Clear copper pour under a creamy ivory cap. Aroma had both hop and malt. Above average mouth. Nice flavour, malt backed up by hop bitterness. Citrus (lemon?) notes at the finish. Nice effort.

Finally rating, but from bottle poured in glass. Have tried many times on tap. Pours an average size creamy off white head and has a dark pale amber appearance. medium carbonation and retention. Pretty good lacing. Aromas are very malty and hoppy, fairly well balanced. Has a really good smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Some bitterness. Flavours are also quite malty and hoppy, not too strong from either, also well balanced. Roasted malts and nuts, some spices and hints of caramel. Very tasty and quite an enjoyable beer from Mill St. Probably one of my faves, bottle or otherwise.

Dark copper colour pour. Looks very appealing even towards the bottom of the glass. Refreshing with a bit of a hop bite. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. this could be a good everyday summer beer.

From my notes: A perennial favorite. Possibly the best pale in Canada. Has a flavourful, clean, crisp taste. Some hoppy aroma, a well represented bitterness. Savor the flavour. Great bottle, class brewery.

Had a Canadian Tasting night on Friday, this was the first beer. Quite hoppy for an APA. Colour was good, consistent with style. Only complaint was the head was on the small side.

I was really hoping for better on this one. I like the color, and the texture, i like how bitter it is, as I was expecting something middle of the road in that respect. Its avaerage medium scale canadian brew. Bit of a floral character, lilies says the wife, but I dont know anything about flowers. I think Im detecting some seriously underripe orange. Seems to be getting a bit sweeter as it warms. Hmmmm, Its decent, though I don;t understand everyone else's numbers.

This beer pours a deep, and beautiful copper red with a thick vanilla head. Good lacing down the glass. very hoppy on the nose and mouth with chocolate hints. On the back of the bottle it says "we use a staggering amount of hops", and they are definitely front and center with a bitter follow although this beers has many other qualities to it. Overall a very good beer that i drink weekly.

This beer has a strong molasses smell and taste. Chocolate flavor on the tongue with bitter taste left in the mouth after each swallow. Very complex flavor which never loses it's appeal.

I tried this beer on May 13, 2008 at the "Elephant and Castle" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer was poured a translucent reddish-brown colour with a half-inch creamy tan coloured head. The aroma was a combination or raosted malt, and hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour was all about the hops. A nice bitter citrusy tang and a very good beer.
